Dr. Karen Pike, MD

Treated at El Camino LG - she was wishy washy with her determination from x-rays for a butt injury. When I pressed her for a clearer response she said "I'm going to end it here." She started to show me gentle exercises to stretch the buttocks, but I pressed her about doing those now since I am in such bad pain from walking. The fall I had was recent. How could doing those stretches already be good if I can't walk without severe pain? She decided she was done - you end your care when I press you to explain? Not impressed and I felt like she just wasn't knowledgeable and didn't want to admit it. She said it was the sacroiliac joint strain - I do not believe that at all - pain is not in that area - showed her where the pain is and it's in the middle of the buttocks. This was a waste of time.

Save your life!Go to another ER! My dad had intermittent shortness of breath with troponin levels of 0.08. Dr Pike was not concerned, diagnosed,& planned to discharge him off of limited test results prior to ever seeing him.His troponin level was elevated well beyond the threshold which required further cardiac tests, none of which were done. She failed to do a full assessment, ask any cardiac related questions, hook him up to a cardiac monitor, & order a 12 lead ECG.After many complaints,I asked for the house supervisor due to the neglect of care & no ECG after 4 hours! This was when Dr. Pike disclosed she was also the Medical Director...we were ignored & treated as if we were a nuisance for asking for proper care instead of being treated like a patient with a serious disease process.A patient should not be required to have RN level self advocacy to receive appropriate care! 10 days of PCU care at 2 hospitals my Dad’s diagnosis was CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE w/EF of 25%(60% is healthy)!

Dr. Pike was amazing! She was wonderful taking care of my 11yo son when broke his wrist playing baseball. The nurses too were great. There were several people in the waiting room. He was trying to be tough but was in a lot of pain, and they brought him right in. Dr. Pike was perfect. Hopefully you don't have go to the ER. But if you do, you want to go to El Camino
