Great care; terrible staff
I can't speak highly enough about the medical care I received and the medical professionals in Dr Chen's office. Dr Chen _was_ my PCP. Why the change? I needed a referral for a surgery and I couldn't get the admin staff to return my calls. Even while at the specialist surgeon, the admin staff there was trying to work with Dr Chen's admin staff and they wouldn't comply. I get she may have had a bad day. And we all know medical administration is a thankless job. But my goodness: this reckless reaction by this thoughtless woman pushed back a needed surgery for months owing to complications on my end. So, three stars: great medical care...if you can ever get through the mess that is their administrative staff. Dr Chen, please find better help! They are costing you business and preventing care.

Shocking treatment – Mar 23, 2022

After many years with another doctor, I transferred to Dr. Karl Chen. After two years’ time, I find him to be very thorough, caring, and an excellent doctor. The addition of a physician’s assistant is a plus. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Chen.

Even in these times, him and his amazing team have done a wonderful job keeping patients safe!! Girls always have a smile and dr chen always careful and thorough! Nurse practitioner, Michelle is always thorough as well and makes sure dr chen has info needed. Both dr chen and michelle have a fabulous bedside manner as well. If your concerned; their concerned. They are also helpful translating info you may not understand from a specialist. "Dumbing it down" you can call it. Never had a bad experience in the 7 yrs I have been going there.

He is all for money. If You owe money as little as 200 bucks he would rather see you die first. At first good >no more.

I recently transfered to Dr. Chen's office from another practice and I'm happy I did. I find him to be a great doctor, very knowledgeable, compassionate and thorough. I feel I'm in good hands. As for the comments on his office staff, perhaps they have changed or stepped up their game because I have had quite a different experience! In fact, I'm in the process of having to have a biopsy done and the office has been great in setting up my appt with the hospital, etc.

Staff are awful. Hours are unaccommodating. It's difficult to get an appointment unless it's mid-morning to early afternoon. His staff are untrained & lack professional skills. I spoke with one person there, she was a student and enjoyed working there because the drug reps brought them lunch every day. They don't call with results. You call and they seem unable to read the results. No faxing or mailing. You're told you have to pick them up--during their bank-style office hours.

Sick with aggravation in East Brunswick, NJ – Feb 21, 2019
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Chen?
My experiences with Dr. Chen's office are horrible at best. His staff are rude and extremely disrespectful when I come to visit. Even when I had an urgent medical matter to discuss with Dr. Chen, even when there are 0 patients waiting outside, I was referred multiple times to a nurse. So many excuses came out for me to see a nurse instead of him. I'm not sure if this is allowed by insurance companies but he and his staff have continued to treat me in a ill-mannered way. Through phone calls, walk

Usually easy to get an appointment, he spends time and listens. Remembers little details which is important, very warm and caring, I have sent my adult children to him and my neighbors daughter, she likes him and believe me that's HUGE. His staff has always been great so I do not understand why people complain. I have NEVER waited more than 5 minutes in 8 years which is also huge. Bottom line I believe he really cares it's really comforting to see a Dr. who knows who you are and your name!

I like Dr. Chen well enough, nice guy, good doctor, IMO...but holy cow...the staff (VICKY) can be extremely rude and unprofessional. Don't think I'd recommend this office on that basis alone.

Dr Chen is a great doctor, but the staff he has working in his office is often rude and too busy on thier cell phones to take care of patient needs. Any issue that is in need of attention by the staff will make you rethink doctors.
