Empathy Deficit
I had a few sessions with this provider and encountered a remarkable lack of empathy for my difficult immigration experiences. Worse, she tried to lay all the blame on my family and refused to consider the racist environments I faced. After more digging, I realized Dr. Watson specializes in treating war veterans and has even testified in front of Congress. This probably impacts her ability to consider that people from other cultures have valid human feelings. In her book, maybe immigrants need to lose an arm or leg fighting for America before we can be considered "real" Americans. Don't waste your time with this provider (maybe unless you are a veteran). Her lack of empathy is stunning.

Based on my past experience with therapists, I thought that therapy was only something that reminded you of things you sort of already knew. However, after facing a new mental health challenge, I decided to try one more time. Dr Watkins totally changed my outlook and I believe my life trajectory. She is a true diagnostician who will work with you to figure out what you need as an individual. She never tells you what to do, but helps you understand what you want. Plus, having therapy and medicine as a connected treatment is priceless. I feel so blessed to have found her.

Dr. Watkins accurately diagnosed my mood instability as Bipolar II. She prescribed medications that are effective. This is the first time in ten years that I have had mood stability. Dr. Watkins does therapy in addition to medication. She is caring and empathetic while also challenging my behaviors that get in the way of my happiness. I appreciate her optimistic outlook.

Dr. Watkins has treated me for about 10 years. She is intelligent, skilled, and extremely sensitive and present for myself as a patient as well as at least one other patient who I referred to her, according to his report. I have been both a patient in this realm for many decades and a volunteer worker in the field, having personally received the Eli Lilly WBA "Person of the Decade Award" in 2008 for my work in the field. I add this simply to help give credence to this review of Dr. Katherine Watkins M.D. She did not ask me to write a review, I just bumped into her listing on this site, and decided to add one, as is appropriate. This is both a genuine, unsolicited, and knowledgeable review. I would give Dr. Watkins 10 Stars, even.
