Unprofessional & Dismissive
The first thing I noticed was her standoffish energy. She spent a total of 5 minutes on the exam looking at my eyes, sat back and said “what questions do you have?” I asked her to go over what she saw. She said, “you have floaters”. (I already knew this) it was like pulling teeth to get her to say anything. She said there is surgery but she’s never done it on floaters but could try. Really? You want to try your first procedure on my eyes? Uhm, no thank you. It was a 2 hour drive to see her. She offered no information on the exam, no insight to what may be causing this, no options or solutions and told me I should google specialists on this condition for optional surgeries. I thought she was a specialist. I requested an appt with a specialist. I drove 4 hours round trip for this appointment. And I feel extremely let down and mistreated. I did speak to patient relations who was just as dismissive and that representative was horribly rude. I had higher expectations for UW Health.

I give Dr. Schildroth the highest recommendation.
Dr. Schildroth has cared for me for at the UWH clinic in Madison for about 6 years for macular edema in 1 eye, and most recently performed a surgical procedure for a detached retina and eye infection. Although I’ve been treated by a number of excellent physicians at UWH, I trust Dr. Schildroth’s competence and dedication to her work could not have been exceeded by anyone else. There are few health issues more important to me than my sight, and Dr. Schildroth has done everything possible to save my sight. This has included different treatment modalities and changing medications. And she never grew impatient while answering my questions about what was happening to my eye. She clearly explained pros and risks of all options. And Dr. Schildroth has kept encouraging me to call if the minimal pain increases, or anything else alarming occurs. In short, whether or not I recover appreciable sight as my eye slowly heals, I’m confident I received the best care humanly possible.

Very pleased
Was thorough but also took the time to explain things. I felt cared for in a somewhat scary process.
