I recently had one of the best doctor's appointments of my life with Dr. Ackerman. She made me feel completely heard and explained everything in great detail, leaving me feeling informed and empowered to take charge of my health for the long-term. Boston is so lucky to have a physician like Dr. Ackerman in its midst - I know I will continue feeling grateful for this appointment for years to come.

Great Experience!
Five stars for Dr Ackerman and her team! Dr Ackerman is knowledgeable, methodical, thoughtful and has helped my child recover from an injury. She is patient and wonderful with kids. Dr Ackerman's supporting team is also terrific, from the nurses to the administrative team, they have all been kind, caring, and very accommodating. If you're in need of a sports medicine team, I highly recommend!

Dr. Ackerman is an excellent physician. She is compassionate, thorough, and knowledgeable. She has helped me return to sport from numerous stress injuries and provided me with the resources and support to train and fuel smarter. She is incredibly intelligent and thorough, always connecting the dots to find the root cause of symptoms that other providers overlooked. She is compassionate and supportive, helping you get healthy and reach your goals. Dr. Ackerman is an expert in female athletes and an incredible physician. I HIGHLY recommend her and her team; I would not be where I am today without her.

curt and i'll prepared
Dr Ackerman came highly referred to us but we are unfortunately very disappointed. Her manner is curt and dismissive to say the least. She has seen my daughter multiple times and has never come prepared with what we are meeting about on the day and what meds/ injuries my daughter has. We literally have to go over everything each time we meet. We had such high hopes and are really so disheartened.

I had seen an ortho regarding pain/injuries and he suggested seeing Dr Ackerman due to her specialty in sports medicine and endocrinology. In the exam room, the student doctor seemed nice and understanding but once Dr Ackerman came in, she changed. I was interrogated the whole time, being told I make excuses as to not exercising, I should be counting calories, there’s nothing wrong with me, I am making myself feel bad, there’s no reason why I can’t pay for a gym membership, etc. At one point she said something along the lines of if I didn’t exercise because I was in pain then it would be a different story. Meanwhile I wearing a very visible knee brace and at the time, my issue for lack of movement was pain in multiple areas. She ignored my eating disorder background as well as thyroid history telling me that people with Graves’ Disease are typically not overweight. I never ever cry in doctors appointment but I was almost immediately in tears due to the disrespect and frustration. I was someone who had a lot of things going on medically, looking for help to find answers, and was interrogated and told it was all my fault. She didn’t even do an exam or look at my history. This woman should not be a doctor. She does more damage than good.

Dr.Ackerman is a compassionate, honest doctor. I always recommend her to my teammates and friends. She not only treated my stress fractures, but created a treatment team to address the root cause of them and help me develop the skills to cope with both. Her knowledge and research of both orthopedic and endocrine issues is unique and ensured I got the best, most up to date treatment. I would not have be able to go on to continue my athletic career at a Div 1 university without her.

Dr. Ackerman was an amazing resource for me when I was healing my 5th stress fractures. She found the source of why I was getting so many stress injuries and worked to change the cause rather than just treat the injury. She cared so much about returning me to the sport that I love so much and I am forever grateful to her.

I just read another review and it is identical to mine. We waited almost an hour. We were in the room for over 40 minutes waiting. She came in and did not apologize for the wait. She was very curt and just sent us to get an MRI (without explanation). She acted as if she could not possibly care less. She also treated me like an idiot. Funny because in 2 mins she actually spent with us she was able to convey condescension, irritation and lack of caring. Impressive!

Incredibly disappointed. I waited an hour and a half past appointment time to see her for three minutes. She was incredibly condescending - quite literally the most dismissive doctor I've seen. She had no insight to offer me despite her reputation; she gave me cursory advice already given by my PCP and easily discoverable on the internet. Very disappointed I wasted time in my busy schedule.

Dr. Ackerman diagnosed and managed the care of my daughter's very unfortunate spinal injuries (stress fractures and bulging discs) which occurred while she was rowing on a crew team. We have been so impressed by and grateful for Dr. A's expertise, kindness, directness, and encouragement through this process. We are feeling so very fortunate to have found such a caring and attentive sports medicine physician. And her office team is simply amazing - responsive, efficient, and truly empathetic.

Dr Ackerman, Was a fantastic resource for our injured daughter. Her knowledge and treatment of our daughters injuries was outstanding . She was also able to give us some preventive tips as well as red flags to look for when our daughter is cleared to play. Her background in sports medicine AND endocrinology is a rare and valuable resource for any female athlete with issues or injuries.

I had seen multiple doctors before finally getting lucky enough to see Dr. Ackerman. I had been on birth control and it was causing me to have break through bleeding and seizures but none of the doctors I saw took me seriously and they all told me I was fine. Then I saw Dr. Ackerman and she listened to me and took my concerns seriously. She got me on the right medications and then followed up with me to make sure I was OK. I can't thank her enough and feel so lucky to have found her!

I took my daughter to see Dr. Ackerman for a stress fracture. We had gotten stuck in traffic and showed up late but Dr. Ackerman and her staff were very accommodating and made sure we still got in. Rather than simply treating the injury, Dr. Ackerman endeavored to uncover the underlying causes of the injury. My daughter is now plugged into Dr. Ackerman's multidisciplinary team to get her back on the field healthier than ever before. I cannot recommend the care of this physician enough.

Abrupt...distant....treated the bone not the boy. Kept us waiting in the exam room for at last 30 minutes on each occasion. One time it was for 50 minutes. Exams done by her PA and then she graced us with her presence for 5 minutes at the end. We went to Children's because it's a world renown hospital. We went to the Sports Med Clinic because my son is a high level athlete. She never even asked him any questions about the sport he plays or what level he was trying to get back to. Very frustrated
