Would not recommend
I recently moved to this area and a colleague recommended me this dermatologist. I go every few years because of an issue I like to have monitored. That said, I’ve never experienced a dermatologist who didn’t do a full skin exam even when I was coming in for a specific issue, especially when I have multiple family members who have had skin cancer. Dr. Somers didn’t perform an exam, didn’t ask for a history (even though she needs another person to take her medical notes), and quiet honestly didn’t seem like she took my specific issue with any concern. I wasn’t given any summary documents when I was leaving-so I asked the receptionist for one. Was told they would email it and never received anything. I had to sign a financial disclosure and enter my credit card on an iPad, but yet I get no receipt for the visit. I think they need to rethink their business and medical care procedures.

Excellent experience and result
Dr. Somers and her staff were very pleasant and personable. She performed an excision with positive results on a timely schedule. I look forward to a continuing relationship with her offices service.

I am thankful for what Dr. Somers has been able to do for my adult acne, but I have always gotten the sense that I am a walking wallet to her more than someone she cares about keeping healthy. I am fair skinned and have lots of moles. She passes over conversations about my general skin health and instead focuses on what is wrong as far as acne, aging, etc. even when I don't ask about it. This then spirals into new medications, ointments, and visits (aka $$$) and I've had to fight back to only go in for annual checkups. Her office is full of extremely unfriendly and seemingly unhappy people who will never go out of their way to be friendly or helpful. Unpleasant is the overall feel.

I had a very bad experience with Dr. Somers. She was pleasant but as a medical professional I thought she was below par. She misdiagnosed me with a rare disorder which caused me much anxiety-no differential diagnosis discussed. She developed and discussed the treatment plan for this rare disorder before even receiving the pathology report which showed the diagnosis was a common disorder. Hundreds of dollars for unsatisfactory care and caused me physical (biopsy) and emotional (anxiety) stress.

Dr. Somers was great. Spent time explaining my surgery as well as great follow up. She did a remarkable job with the stitches and left barely a trace she was there. Highly recommended.
