Excellent surgeon. The doctor and the team at the UC Davis Spine center provided excellent, courteous and patient centered treatment.

I ruptured two discs in my neck. Dr. Kim replaced both discs with artificial discs, leaving only a small scar on the front of my neck. Only one night in the hospital, back to work after a week. I have regained 100% mobility and have 0% pain. Just a fantastic job!

Dr Kim is an awesome neurosurgeon. He found the exact problem I was having with my lower back and upon having my fusion last Jan 30 19 I could not be happier. I was in so much pain before the surgery and when he found that my spine was shifting forward there was nothing we could do but duse it and realign it. I am so very happy that I am 98% pain free as of Jan 6 2020. I highly recommend Dr Kim. Hes awesome

Prior to my surgery my hopes to survive were not holding up. Visits with other university hospital did not leave me with a survivable option. I had a positive experience when visiting with Dr. Kim. Not only was my surgery long for me I had other illnesses that may interfere. Surgery was performed as expected without complications and went well. The recovery is going very good and have to remind myself to take it easy. So excited to have a new life without the threat of losing use of my arms and legs. Dr. Kim saved me from the grip of severe situation with cervical kyphosis. Also the freedom that my spinal cord now has reversed poor health and body function. Weight gain and stamina was quickly realized and new muscle mass and growth accelerated to give me a life I would otherwise not have ever known or be allowed to live. My thanks are many and great to everyone involved and my hospital stay was alright also. Dr Kim saved me when others could not. His procedure was better and less.

I requested a referral to UC Davis early in 2019 and in August, Dr Kim performed an outpatient minimally invasive decompression surgery at L4-5. The procedure was an outstanding success. The pain from pinched nerves was gone and has not returned. I never needed any pain medication during recovery and even now two months post-op. The strength of my legs has improved and the feelings are returning in my leg and foot. UCD diagnostic testing included MRI, EMG, and X-ray which all pointed to compression at L4-5. Staff work was thorough and methodical to insure the correct diagnosis and surgical correction. Dr. Fineman, Pain Mgmt Dept. was hesitant to perform an epidural due to my condition fearing further damage and made the referral to Dr Kim. I am grateful to both Drs. Fineman and Kim and the UCD Med staff for their expertise and skills in caring for me and healing this condition.

My L4-L5 herniated, was bulging into my spinal cord and causing severe sciatic pain and numbness down my leg. I was basically paralyzed and my 6-year-old had to take care of me (I'm a single mom). While Dr. Kim was operating on my spine, he realized that the disc had fused to my spinal cord; something that did not show up on tests done before surgery. On the spot, he had to scrape it off. I am now fully recovered, I have my life back, and my son has his mommy back. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kim!!!!

I am an older man in good health who started to lose the use of my legs due to the onset of a spinal condition that reduced the transmission of messages to my legs......I did not deal with this right away as I feared back surgery.......WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WA.....Ended up with Dr Kim who put me very much at ease with his calm mannerism and high level of knowledge and experience which was quite impressive......Had surgery recently that went like clockwork. Success was immediate. I'm grateful!!

After years of enduring sciatic nerve pain down my right leg into my ankle, in August 2017 I had TLIF surgery on L4-L5. Immediately after my surgery, I no longer had any debilitating nerve pain! I was able to make a remarkable recovery within just a few months. I no longer experience issues with losing my balance and falling. I was living in Oregon when I ruptured my disc at l4/l5 for the 2nd time,I knew after 25+ years of inflammation/irritation that another discectomy was not going to end my suffering nor was pain pills.I did my research and I knew I needed a surgeon to stabilize the area with a fusion and I wanted surgeon that was young and updated on this latest in surgical techniques/tools.I no longer have pain in my low back go from mild to miserable with activity,it is stable and calm.Dr.Kim is the best. I've completed my one year + since my spinal fusion surgery. Dr. Kim and the UC Davis Med Center staff were top notch all the way. My result is great, no pain, complete success. The surgery itself, recovery in hospital and follow up care were great. All questions answered, no matter how small. The PAs, front desk, and MAs all were friendly and helpful. Dr Kee Kim is a Godsend. He performed back surgery on my mom and she is now able to be mobile and enjoy life. 'Thank you' will never be enough for what he did for her.
