Rude, dismissive and lack of communication.
My father has metastasized melanoma. He has gone to the ER twice now while being treated at the cancer clinic at the hospital. Dr. Abbrescia does not communicate. We were in the ER for 9 hours today and she spoke to us when we first got there. Many tests were being run. She did not communicate any findings. I had a question about contrast because he has reactions to it. He could not walk or eat and I just wanted to know if there was another option before we dealt with the migraines from the contrast. She asked me, “if I wanted him to throw a blood clot, have a heart attack and die.” She wanted to know why I declined. I never declined but he has one advocate and it is me. He had nodules on his lungs due to the melanoma. Before we knew the cause she said, “he’s smoked his whole life, what did you expect?” She is capable and good. What she lacks is empathy and bedside manner. No one needs her unprofessionalism, sarcasm, and judgement..
