I have been a patient of D. Itoku's for several years. When I first met with him, I explained my family history. I had two older brothers with metastatic prostate cancer. He listened and setup a detection approach based on my high risk family history. Of course, my PSA continued to climb and Dr Itoku performed biopsies when he saw fit. Eventually, and almost as expected, cancer was detected. While I was first placed on a surveillance program, as my PSA continued to climb another biopsy was performed which confirmed more rapid growth. I had a radical prostatectomy in October of 2021. This might be a standard approach to my condition, but I have my doubts... I'm not sure another Urologist would be so quick to perform a biopsy. I really believe that Dr. Itoku had my back and I am now cancer-free because of it.

Worst experience with a doctor in my life. I would never recommend him to anyone. He was rude and dismissive and unhelpful. He did not clearly answer any of my questions or address any of my concerns. I was still in the middle of asking him a question regarding my health concerns and he was already walking out of the door. He had not been in the office for more than five minutes. Do not go to this doctor. First thing I did when I left his office was make an appointment with another urologist. Find someone else!

Dr. Itoku performed an emergency urological procedure on me in the ED at SSM Health Center- St. Charles on 9/18/20. By the time I’d seen him, it was the 2nd time I’d come to the ED that day- the first time I was there that day I had to leave against medical advice because I’m a single parent and didn’t have childcare for my toddler (they wanted to admit me immediately and perform surgery because I had severe sepsis and was life threatening). When I came back that day, after having to leave my 14 year old at home with my toddler, I saw Dr. Itoku. He had HORRIBLE bedside manner, told me he’d refuse to treat me if I was gonna leave after surgery (to go to my children) and just yelled at me for 10 minutes. Two nurses encouraged me to complain because they were blown away by his treatment. Luckily I had my phone with me and I recorded the whole thing. After my surgery (it’s been over a month now) I can’t get him to return my calls or messages online. Would NEVER recommend.

Absolutely the worst urologist in st.louis and st.lukes hospital should be ashamed to employ him. Very rude will bold face lie to you. He's never had a kidney stone but will tell you if you hurt or not will treat you like you a druggie... he did a procedure on me and left me with a stricture from the laser he used that I'm still trying to get fixed !

While Dr. Itoku was nice, he was not thorough. He was unable to diagnose me and left me in pain for weeks. I was treated rudely by the nurse when I called to follow-up. I ultimately found a different doctor who was able to diagnose and properly treat my condition. I would not visit Dr. Itoku or this office again.

My experience with Dr. Itoku was the worst doctor's visit of my life. I am younger so this was the first ever Urologist appointment so I went into it already a little nervous. After I checked in and was waiting in my exam room, I could hear Dr. Itoku yelling at a patient in the room next door. This obviously made my nerves worse. When he finally came into my room, I could tell immediately that he was in a bad mood. When I was going over what medications I was currently on, I said I was on Mirena and he looked at me with a confused look on his face. When I didn't respond, he said "what's that...?" with a really annoyed tone. Now, I understand that he is a Urologist and not an OBGYN. But it was very shocking to me that an MD did not know what a very common form of birth control was. That was just kind of the tip of the iceberg for me. He also had to perform a Cystoscopy on me and the light kept dying so I had to have the cystoscope inserted 4-5 times. I would never go to this doc again.

This is the worst doctor I have ever been to. I'm educated in the health care system and can tell he does not care about his patients. He does not tell you the complete pros and cons to your treatment/options and rushes his suturing (he leaves you with horrible scars). He just cares about money. I tried calling him back after my surgery since there were complications, and he wouldn't return my call. Probably scared of getting sued instead of caring for my complications. He ruined my life.

I have an anomaly on my prostate. Itoku is watching the PSA score. In a 6 month period, the score raises almost 14 points (unheard of!) Itoku schedules a biopsy. The staff mismanaged the scheduling, so badly, I began to wonder if the new PSA test is correct. I request another PSA test and the score lowers about 13.5 points. Based on the new test, Itoku cancels the biopsy, see you in 3 months. I would think he would want to find out why such disparate results. NOPE! Bad Doc in my opinion!
