Doesn’t communication well between doctor and patient. I would not recommend him or his staff because the staff seems to be walking on eggshells or at least one of the staff members, which doesn’t need to be in a position as important as sleep apnea appointments. I would not recommend this office nor this doctor to anyone. I wish I could sing praises about this particular individual and his staff or at least one member of his staff but I cannot.. my health is far more important than his reputation. Sadly, it was very clear to me that my health was not a priority.

A blessing in my dx
I came to Dr. Ashkin in 2009 with persistent excessive daytime sleepiness even after CPAP treatment. He correctly hypothesized narcolepsy which was confirmed with sleep studies. Many people take a very long time to be diagnosed with narcolepsy, and I’m blessed he identified it quickly.

Very poor customer service
I had an appointment to get my CPAP machine data downloaded. The office said that they would forward that to Rotech to get my supply order filled. That has not happened. I've called 3 times. I was never able to get a person on the phone. I left voicemails all 3 times. I have never received a response from their office. I am out of CPAP supplies and have no way to get more at this point.

Because he did not follow the most basic protocols, he completely misdiagnosed my condition (a temporal bone tumor) which resulted in my loss of hearing and vestibular function. All he did was prescribe heavy migraine drugs with terrible cognitive side effects. The man is a quack and should have his medical license revoked. AVOID. There are plenty of other doctors out there that are competent and caring, unlike Dr. Ashkin.

Dr. Ashkin ordered a sleep test for me that came back negative. Because of the misleading symptoms he wrote in my health history I am not ineligible for disability insurance. He refuses to correct his mistakes which leaves me vulnerable! Avoid him!
