Fantastic physician
I have been a patient of Dr. Mauer for several years. He's performed a number of endoscopies and managed several issues. He is a fantastic physician on all counts. Knowledgeable, personable, thorough, listens, doesn't undertreat or overtreat, involves the patient in decision making. The staff at the practice all seem happy, and provide great care and service. It seems they are treated well.

Outstanding Dr Mauer
Dr Mauer is a listener and a thinker. and very intelligent. During my very long life he is by far one of the most competent Doctors that I have ever encountered . He was sensitive to my age and did not want me to undergo any test that might be risky. That is really looking at the person and not just the symptoms. My experience of having an endoscopy was painless and his entire staff was professional and caring. He discovered a condition I have that another Doctor overlooked and because of his tenacity I may be able to live a more comfortable old age. I am very grateful.

Nice Guy, Inattentive Medical Care
While Dr. Mauer is a friendly and affable person, getting his attention or getting an explanation of your condition, risks, what you should or shouldn't do etc is very difficult. For a recent procedure, I called the office after getting my lab results and said I wanted an appointment with the Dr to discuss them and make sure I understood what that meant, etc. The office said they would not schedule an appointment for that, the nurse on the phone reviewed the lab result - essentially read exactly what it said - and said if there are any problems I should make an appointment then. I was very surprised and totally put off. The overall impression I get is they are too busy to provide any individual care, or provide any explanation or consultation about your health. They just want to run people in and out of procedures.

Neglected
Had a colonoscopy recently with Dr Mauer and he didn't bother to greet me prior to the procedure to explain things or ask if I had any questions. Nor did I see him after the procedure to review the results. Terrible.

Horribe, incompetent doctor and stafff
Avoid him at all costs! His carelessness and lack of attentiveness has lead to extremely bad patient care. He is inattentive and rarely will see patients in person, opting to make his staff care for his patients instead. His staff is also incompetent and can't provide proper care for his patients. Choosing him would be the worst mistake you could make.

In my opinion Dr. Mauer has no bed side manner and relates poorly. He frequently has someone on his staff talk to you and seems too busy to spend any time listening to your problem. I would not recommend Dr. Mauer.

Extarordinary staff...at least four staff members attended to me; each was exceptionally communicative, humorous and un condescending in conversation. Doc Mauer also unusual in directness and limited, though, humorous banter....so different from most doctor's offices....if ya' gotta have something stuck down one end or up the other, can't beat the place.

Plese avoid this office at all costs. I have an issue where I need a refill for my humira 40mg as I've run out of my shots for my Crohn's disease. My pharmacy hasn't gotten return calls for a month(re: the refill) and I called the office on 2 separate occasions and Pauline hasn't got back to me. She was in the office both days. We are living in a pandemic and health concerns are magnified. This behavior is totally irresponsible!! A doctor is sometimes only as good as their office and because of this I recommend you find a different doctor. One who has a heart and cares cause for this patient they've shown no respect.

He is the very best !! I've been a patient of his over 20 years and if I had not found him I would not be here today. My prior Dr. was always indifferent to my visits and made me feel like I was just a complainer. Dr. Mauer has always taken the time to listen and find solutions for my problem. This is the best practice I've ever been associated with. Great staff!! Always very helpful and polite . I must also say that all the other Doctors in this practice are great and the nurses are fantastic !!

Complained to Dr. Mauer of severe stomach issues, diarrhea, pain, and weight loss. He diagnosed me with irritable bowel and after months of the same complaints finally ordered a stool test which confirmed I had c-diff. He refused to see me in person (upon diagnosis) and had his nurses do all the back and forth work. He also didn’t order any bloodwork which came back as very abnormal when ordered by my PC. He was perplexed that a specialist wouldn’t order blood work! It should be routine. Just because you have these fancy degrees doesn’t make you a good doctor! Horrific experience!

Dr. Mauer is extremely careful and proportionate, yet knows when to act. Last year his judgment saved me from a dangerous situation: Even though the biopsy report from an upper endoscopy came back negative, he wasn’t comfortable with the results; so he decided to repeat the endoscopy much earlier than the usual one or two years. This time the biopsy report was positive for adenocarcinoma, a radical difference. However, since he caught it so early, the cancer was able to be completely removed.

I could not provide enough positive feedback based on my experience with Dr. Mauer. His attentiveness from the moment I got in contact with him was unparalleled to any other doctor I have worked with in the past. Dr. Mauer's thorough approach, obvious expertise in the field and compassionate nature helped me recover from an awful few months of gastro challenges. I appreciate all that he has helped me with and his continued effort to monitor my progress. Quite simply, he is the BEST!

I am very displeased with this practice. This is my third colonoscopy at the age of 29 due to polyps. My first two were as pleasant as possible. The dr examined me prior, scheduled an appt and made sure to speak with me after my procedures. This guy didn’t even touch my abdomen prior to scheduling me for a procedure. The nurse was the one to tell me their findings after... that’s a doctors job!! Stop trying to fit in as many procedures as possible and think about your patients!!!

I have been a patient of Ken Mauer's for more than 20 years. He is a consummately skilled, thoughtful and personable physician who deals with problems capably and without drama. I am a retired doctor who has, over the past 40 years, seen a lot of medical practice and in my opinion, Ken Mauer is among the best.
