Dr. Kevin Jones, MD

I’ve suffered from depression my whole life. I’ve tried several times to get help in my 20’s and 30’s, but psychiatrists didn’t help me, even though the meds Dr. Jones put me on in my 40’s actually worked and were available decades before. When I first started seeing Dr. Jones, I thought he was fantastic. Easy-going, relaxed. But he told me that if I used cannabis recreationally, “(he) couldn’t help me.” A couple sessions later, I told him I used indica to help with sleep and on the weekend I used sativa for a creative outlet (I like to paint). I said I tried to not mix the cannabis and antidepressants (I was on an immediate release version at the time, out of my system in 6 hours). His response? “Ok.” What? I was seeing him for a couple years when I brought up the possibly of weaning off the meds completely. I’m sure I’ve left a mental health paper trail over the years. His response? “Sure!” I suffered a nervous breakdown 3 months later. Get an NP that can prescribe.

I have never been to a psychiatrist who is more thorough as Dr. Jones. He goes extremely in depth to explain what is needed and he asks for input. I also liked that he evaluated what I had been taking and is taking an approach to take as few pills as possible but finding what will work to help. I have never worked with someone who took the time to explain and work with me towards the right path.

Highly recommend Dr. Jones. He's very thorough with his explanations of the physiology involved in his analysis and diagnosis. He's a bit quirky, but I find it endearing. Very knowledgeable and personable.
