Best of the best
Dr. Modanlou is an amazingly compassionate and highly skilled surgeon. He took the time to explain my diagnosis in terms we could understand. Even when he had to explain something more than once, he never got frustrated with our lack of understanding. He didn’t rush through my appointments. He really listened to us and our questions and concerns. He did rounds personally every day I was in the hospital, spending time with me to really observe my recovery. He was even humble and compassionate enough to pull out the g-tube for me rather than make me wait for a nurse to come in and do it! My surgery was incredibly detailed and complex and he did a remarkable job. I 100% trusted him with my life and I’ll so glad I did.

Hernia surgery
I called the office, they gave me an appointment in just few days, Dr Modanlou explained the procedure in detail, got my surgery done in less than 2 weeks. Very happy highly recommended. If you have a hernia don't wait until it's worse.

I visited Dr. Modanlou on July 30, 2021 for treatment for an inguinal hernia. The initial visit in his office was efficient and professional. After diagnosing my condition the corrective surgery was scheduled for the following week, August 6, at Swedish Hospital. Dr. Modanlou performed robotic minimally invasive surgery to correct my hernia and I was back home the same day. The results have been terrific and I have put the hernia in the rear view mirror as though I never had it. Dr. Modanlou is a consummate professional and instills great confidence. His training and experience are second to none. After my experience I know I selected a terrific doctor and highly recommend him to anyone needing surgery.

My hernia was causing pain and frustration by the time I discovered Dr. Modanlou. After researching his background and studying his reviews I chose him for my surgery. THAT was a smart move. From pre to post surgery, everything the doctor and his team did was well explained, double checked, and performed exceptionally well. The surgery went well, the follow ups have been very helpful, and I am feeling much better. He discovered a second hernia problem in the midst of the original surgery and corrected that at the same time. Dr. Modanlou is extremely intelligent and still very down-to-earth when explaining the procedures to come and what to expect on the other side. I highly recommend him for his technical skills, bedside manner and of course, owe a debt of gratitude to the supporting medical staff at Swedish Hospital in Englewood that made the entire experience run smooth.

Dr Modanlou performed my surgery 2 weeks ago, and the experience was really great. We met on a Monday to discuss my issue (hernia), and he was able to do the surgery on Friday of that week! No issues, took very little pain meds after, and our post-op meeting was quick and easy. If you are looking for a Dr who has it all going on, he is the one.

Dr. Modanlou performed a cholecystectomy to remove my gall bladder. The office made an appointment with me soon after I was referred to him. He explained the surgery and what to expect afterwards and answered all my questions and put me at ease. The surgery went very well. Post-surgery pain was minimal. It was only necessary to take OTC pain medication for 48 hours after surgery. Pain from the incisions was minimal and occurred only when I stood up. I could walk for exercise the day after surgery. I had no pain at all when standing up within about 12 days after surgery. I had no indigestion or any of the other symptoms of post cholecystectomy syndrome. My surgery and recovery could not have gone much better. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones, but I think it was mainly due to Dr. Modanlou being an excellent surgeon.

Luckily, Dr. Modanlou was available and performed my appendectomy perfectly. I was discharged from the PACU (didn't stay one night in the hospital) and was back to work in 3 days. He used the state of the art advances in medicine to perform the surgery. I had hardly any post operative pain. Dr. Modanlou is one of the best surgeons in this state/region and I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of his services. Robert Moghim, M.D.

Dr. Modanlou used state-of-the-art procedures in my surgery, leading to minimal pain and recovery time but ensuring a successful outcome. He worked with leading-edge anesthesiologists likewise to make my recovery a speedy and nearly painless one. Because of the great results, I won't need to see Dr. Modanlou again but I would recommend him to anyone who needs his services.

Dr. Modanlou and the staff at Swedish Hospital completed my hernia surgery as easy and pleasant as possible. The guidance provided pre surgery as well as the consideration during and following the procedure, gave a comforting sense of being surrounded by the most competent health care professionals. From the onset, Dr. Modanlou’ s description of the proposed surgery was thorough from start to finish. The doctor visited me before surgery to check in on my status and if I had any concerns. The post-surgery information was also very beneficial and provided explanations as to what to expect and the steps towards a complete recovery. I highly recommend the team at Swedish Hospital for your surgery needs, from Dr. Modanlou, to Judy and Liam the anesthesiologists and of course the wonderful nurses that looked after me as well. A success all around!

Dr. Modanlou saved my life. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and he performed a 10 and a half hour surgery (Whipple) on me to get rid of the mass. This was a very scary time for me as you can imagine and I am ONLY willing to see Dr. Modanlou. He was incredible in every way - compassion, brilliance, robotics surgery, the list is endless. I highly recommend Dr. Modanlou for any surgery. He walks on water for me. Shawn Feaster Johnson

I recently had a robotic laparoscopic bilateral hernia repair performed by Dr. Modanlou and I would highly recommend him. He is meticulous, detail oriented and honest. Dr. Modanlou took his time to explain the procedure and recovery to me; at my initial consult, on surgery day and again at my post-op appointment. He is highly skilled, kind, compassionate and has a great bedside manner. All the things you really want in a surgeon!

Overall my experience with Dr Modanlou and his staff was extremely favorable. My initial appointment to discuss gall bladder surgery was informative and comforting. Dr Modanlou explained in detail the various steps of the surgery ahead of time which was extremely reassuring. My recovery time after surgery went very well which I attributed to his pain management approach. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen was all I needed to relieve the pain. I was extremely grateful to have an expert physician in my network and would highly recommend him to any prospective patients.

I had hernia surgery 1 1/2 years ago with another doctor. Then realized I had a couple more hernias and had surgery with Dr. Modanlou. This surgery experience was light years better than my first. The recovery from his more up-to-date style of surgery was waaaay better than my first experience. Less side effects and much quicker recovery. He also has a calm, reasonable approach. Definitely recommend.

The night before, I had a terrible pain in my abdomen. Then that morning, I was rushed to Rose Hospital and shortly after, was in the operating room getting my appendix removed. The worst part was that I was in the hospital for an emergency surgery during the COVID epidemic. And I was so fortunate to have Dr. Kian Modanlou running my surgery. Among other things, his team kept my wife completely informed since she was unable to wait for me in the hospital. Before the anesthesiologist put me under, Dr. Modanlou sat with me, explained the procedure, and really took his time to listen to my concerns. My follow up with him two weeks after was no exception. I have been extremely comfortable throughout the process. And my recovery has been seamless.
