Good Doctor--Poor Communication from Staff
I have been a patient of Dr. Russell for almost a decade, and have recommended her to numerous family members and acquaintances. Recently, I underwent a scan and was surprised when no one contacted me with the results. After receiving a call from St. Luke Hospital's scheduling unit, I messaged Dr. Russell through the portal, only to receive a screenshot of notes indicating that I had viewed the results. When I replied that I didn't understand the notes and was looking for a new healthcare provider, the nurse finally called me back to inform me that everything was fine. While I appreciate Dr. Russell's expertise, I was disappointed by the lack of compassion and communication from her nurse.

I don't think this Doctor sees anyone with more complexity than basic illness. I needed a simple prescription for maintenance medication for extremely mild hypertension. She was "uncomfortable" prescribing medication for hypertension (though it's one of the top things people see primary care providers for & I already had a prescription?) & referred me to a Cardiologist & told me to come back after I saw him. I had already seen a cardiologist & had passed all of the tests, but she refused to see me for very basic elevated blood pressure for some reason. So I saw the cardiologist she referred me to who laughed about the referral & indicated that it was ridiculous I got passed off to him. This all happened right before the pandemic hit & we went under stay home orders. I did have CVS call to try to refill the meds she wrote the prescription for when I saw her, but she refused because I haven't followed up -- during a stay at home order. Worst Doctor I've ever seen. She doesn't care at all

Dr, Russell recognized a spot of skin cancer on my face on our very first visit. I had been to a dermatologist for several years about this spot, to be given a steroid creme that stopped the itch, but not the flaking. Dr. Russell suggested a biopsy which identified squamous cell skin cancer. On other occasions Dr. Russell has been forthright and efficient, but takes time to listen to personal issues as well. She is very conscientious, thorough. Thumbs up!

Dr. Russell, is good for general sickness. She is not a specialists, and does not quickly hands off issues she cannot diagnose. She will do labs but is not able to come up with final diagnosis for the patient, and at times she seems irritated with questions, or does not answer, until asked twice. Overall, i was not too happy with her diagnosis.

Dr. Russell provided conscientious care and a good, first treatment plan. She was thorough, even sending me down the hall for X-rays. She spent plenty of time with me and answered all my questions.
