Uncaring and Lacks Follow up with Patient
I looked at a Valley magazine that lists 'Top Docs' for 2024 and chose Dr. Heiland. He made some unsettling remarks before he even examined me. He then made the diagnosis that I had LPR and prescribed antibiotics, lifestyle changes and some OTC meds. He said to come back in approximately 7 weeks. In between that time some of my symptoms continued and I saw the PA. She was very understanding and took a nasal swab for a culture to find out why I still had such bad drainage and throat pain. Had to call the office 3 times to get the results. It was strep. I was suppose to go back for a 6 month check this week but got a call from the office last week that this appt. was going to have be rescheduled to end of May!!! I couldn't believe it and asked if I could get in to see the PA. She quit and they only had 2 doctors. This was the last straw. Lately been experiencing dizziness and ear ringing which I was going to address at this appt. but not now. I feel I have dodged a bullet.

Horrible
Dr. Heiland is rude and horrible. He belittled me and decided upon my diagnosis before he even came in the room to meet me. (His diagnosis was wrong, by the way.) When he asked me what other doctors I'd seen, he started snapping his fingers in my face, saying 'c'mon, c'mon, c'mon' because apparently I wasn't answering quickly enough. He then told me my other doctors were 'stupid,' and then proceeded to give me medically inaccurate information. When I tried to check out, I had to listen to his receptionist threaten a patient with collection over the phone. Nice touch. Find another doctor.

Dr. Awesome wait time bad
Being seeing him for 4 years and have found home to be very friendly and professional and his staff also. But… I did show up 10 mins early for an appointment and there is a sign in the office saying there was a 60 minute wait. Staff should have called and told me. No one called to check or after my surgery either which I found disheartening.

Very disturbing Visit
Stay away from Heiland. Most disturbing interaction I have ever had with a physician. I was there for tinnitus and a severe ear infection. He waltzed in, talked over me, never addressed the tinnitus or my left ear infection. Instead He exclaimed twice that I had had a facelift, and that hearing aids would be like a facelift for my ears. He yanked out a tuning fork and suddenly diagnosed me with peripheral neuropathy. Incorrect diagnosis. He scolded me for the shoes I wore which were recommended by my podiatrist. Never looked at my left ear or allowed me to ask questions. Suffocatingly arrogant, doesn't listen, hostile and demeaning. My chart is incorrect, only wanted to sell hearing aids that I didn't need. Fortunately for me I have spent decades working with deaf and hard of hearing clients who wear hearing aids and knew how to read my audiogram. He also insisted I could not hear consonants. As a speech pathologist for 40 years I can assure you I hear consonants. Very disturbing.

0 He is heartless.
I agree that Dr. Heiland is not empathic or cared about me as a patient. He was heartless with my situation in needing relief from wax build up in my ear, but would not treat me unless I agreed to a routine audio test that could have been scheduled for another day when I was not exhausted and upset about just learning about a loved one's death.

0 stars. Dr. Heiland is condescending, arrogant, rude, crass, and doesn't even pretend to listen or care about the patient's symptoms. His charting is also inaccurate, confirming that he doesn't listen or care. He is fixated on selling books about acid reflux, which wasn't even the reason for my visit.

He began by scoffing at my choice of exercise, scolded me like a child about q tips, bike helmets and interrupted me 3 times before I stopped trying to communicate with him. I have never had an experience like this. It wasn’t until I came home and read similar reviews that I felt somewhat better.

No respect for a patients time or schedule
Valley ENT has a monoply in Phoenix. I have seen 4 of their ENT's. Not one has addresed my concerns. And Heiland and Brigette make you sit in an examination room for 45 minutes not counting the time in the reception room. I have two issues I am dealing with which are dangerous. Heiland did not address any of them. Instead he just cleaned out my ear wax. Brigette again made me sit and wait for 40 minutes. Addressed one issue for 6 minutes, left the examination room and did not return to answer my other concerns. Both have a nice demeanor they just do not address your concerns and have no respect for patients personal schedule. I was the ONLY person in the reception room and saw no other patients in the office. Rude.

Rude
Extremely Disheartening Experience with an Ear, Nose, and Throat DoctorDr. Kurt E. Heiland, MD8752 E Via de Commercio, Unit 1, Scottsdale, AZ 85258, United StatesI am writing to share an incredibly distressing experience I had recently with Dr. Kurt Heiland. The encounter left me deeply disappointed and upset, and I feel compelled to bring attention to the unprofessional and demeaning behavior that my 84-year-old mother and I endured during our visit.Throughout the appointment, the doctor displayed an alarming level of rudeness and condescension towards both my mother and me. Instead of listening attentively to our concerns, he interrupted us repeatedly and belittled our questions and observations. It was clear he had no regard for our feelings or wellbeing. What struck me the most was the doctor's complete lack of empathy and compassion. He spoke to us in a demeaning and patronizing tone, making us feel insignificant and dismissed. This behavior is unacceptable!

Very Bright and Caring
I am so grateful for Dr Heiland. He caught a cancerous tumor on my thyroid that another doctor missed. He has given me such practical advice to help me avoid sinus surgery in the future, lower acid reflux, and prevent sleep apnea. He always answers all of my questions. He does run late at times, but I will accommodate for that in order to to see a doctor that truly cares.

Nope
This guy obviously does not want to deal with patients and it shows. Prior to seeing him, I took the time to gather my prior medical notes and MRIS. Upon seeing him, as soon as I started talking, he dismissed everything I had to say and urged me to buy his book instead-he didn't take a look at ANYTHING. As other people have commented, he was one of the most arrogant and condescending doctors I have ever had. A complete and utter waste of my time.

Great Surgeon
I've been seeing Dr Heiland for 11 years now. Eleven years ago I had an aggressive throat cancer. Dr Heiland performed three surgeries in ten days. He is a very gifted surgeon. He also totally committed to his patients. His advice as to what treatment I should receive was right on.Fast forward 11 years. Over time my throat narrowed and swallowing became difficult due to the chemo and radiation. He told me this might become and issue one day. He performed a procedure to help alleviate most of the problem.I wouldn't see any other ENT!

AWESOME
I almost canceled my appointment yesterday due to the reviews. that would have been a huge mistake. I found Dr Heiland to be very personable, knowledgeable, friendly, and just a downright good guy. I can't remember ever feeling so comfortable with a Dr before. the previous negative reviews are complete junk in my opinion. I have nothing negative to say about him. our interaction yesterday was 100% positive.

Stay Far Away
Where to start. I’ve never felt compelled enough to leave a review for pretty much anything, but my experience with Dr. Heiland has left me no choice. I truly think it’s important that I share how abysmal my experience with him was, and it seems I’m not alone based on all of the other one star reviews. I could practically write a novel with all of the issues I had, but I’ll keep it short and sweet. Dr. Heiland clearly has no interest in listening, helping, or caring for his patients. I was not able to finish a single sentence without being interrupted by him, he was rude to me as well as his staff, and he was extremely condescending and arrogant during our visit. While I hope this isn’t the case, it really feels like his goal is to just sell as many surgeries as possible and get as many patients in and out of the clinic. There’s plenty of other ENT docs in Phoenix, save your time, money, and frustration and go somewhere else!

Was referred to Dr. Heiland years ago for debilitating BPP vertigo. Every time I met w/him, he was impatient/condescending and refused to support me when asked to assist w/FMLA paperwork. I have since moved on to a more supportive doctor, my vertigo has improved, and I no longer need to take time off from work.
