Inappropriate Behavior
He pushes medication to treat rather than looking to heal the patient. He barely will look you in the eye when addressing you. His office is a mess. The way he speaks to his staff is undesirable. Today I had an appointment with him at suggestion of my dietitian/nutritionist for blood work. When he came in the office you could tell he was annoyed and threw the paper from my dietitian/nutritionist requesting the labs on the counter by his computer. He tells me my choice of a nutritionist was a joke. He then proceeded to raise his voice at me when I asked if he could reach out to the nutritionist for more clarity of what she was requesting he then responded "why should I reach out to her, I don't know her". I responded by reminding him he suggested that I see a nutritionist last year, his response was "I didn't recommend her". But, he never gave a recommendation at all. He made me extremely uncomfortable in his office today with his irate behavior.

My Primary Doctor For 30 Years
I am writing this review because I was a palled to see one star reviews based upon the front office. I’ve been going to Dr. Friedman for 30 years and can’t imagine even moving from the area and finding a doctor is competent, trustworthy, and caring as Dr. Friedman. He is extremely thorough, cautious and a superb diagnostician. He knows all of the other doctors in the area and makes excellent referrals should you need a specialist. He is caring, warm and very very patient. He has my very highest recommendation.

Dr Friedman has been my primary care doctor for over 20 years. He is thorough and caring. He listens and diagnoses great and a long term healthy plan is what he is always looking for. The front office staff is always courteous and caring and moves my calls along to the proper place. My family has also made his practice their primary as well. I try to stay healthy but when I need a doctor I’m glad he’s there

I have used Dr. Friedman for over 30 years as my primary physician. He is exceptional in his thoroughness, attention to care, and has excellent "bedside manners". I would recommend him to anyone seeking a caring and concerned Internist. HOWEVER be aware that ALL the low ratings under Dr. Friedman's name are because of the ProHealth front office staff and policies that now drive the office. None of these things are in Dr. Friedman's direct control, and thus should not impact a review of his abilities. But if we could rate the office separately, they would get NO STARS! I recommend that if the opportunity ever arises (other than when he retires) Dr. Friedman leave ProHealth and find some better partnership with which to align his practice. Even if they have the same policies, a complete overhaul of front office staff would be a good change.

Excellent doctor. He takes time to speak personally with his patients, instead of hurrying them, the way many other doctors do. He is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful, and has kept me healthy for decades. His staff are always bubbly and friendly. I have only ever had wonderful experiences with the team at Oceanside Medical. Highly recommended.

Received a bill from my insurance company, they told me that if the bill was submitted in 2 that it would be covered but Dr. Larry J Friedman's office was unwilling to do so. Also a bogus $200 hearing test was added to the portion of the bill that I was responsible for.

I was a longer term patient of Dr Friedman. After having to change my insurance, I found that Dr Friedman accepted the new insurance but wasn't accepting new patients. I contacted him and was informed that he would accept my insurance as long as he was designated as my PCP. When the insurance company called into to confirm designating him as my PCP - his office REFUSED to speak with the insurance company even though Friedman instructed them to do so. When I called the office back to find out why they wouldn't confirm the change - they told me that it was the office's decision (and not the doctors). His office staff is incompetent - they don't follow the instructions of their doctor.

Nasty and incompetent office. I used to have Dr Walters as my primary care dr for years and she was fine, but the office staff was horrible. I changed insurance and she was listed as a participant, but someone there told me my insurance was not accepted without even speaking to Dr Walters. In the middle of treatment I had to find a new doctor.
