I saw Dr. Alberton many years ago for a shoulder injury. This doctor was rude, disrespectful, and insulting. When she first entered the exam room she looked at me and asked “have you been shooting up or doing anything that would give you AIDS?!” I was shocked that she would ask such a question. She showed no interest in my shoulder injury. I had a frozen shoulder and limited range of motion after a fall. When I explained to her that I could no longer lift my arm all the way, she rudely asked “Why do you need to do that?!”. I felt totally bullied by this person. I would never recommend her to anyone.

Should Have Done This Sooner
I was recommended to Dr. Alberton when my original orthpedist informed me that he was no longer doing surgery. I had surgery on my left knee, as a result of an injury I incurred while working out. My left knee was swollen for months. I finally saw Dr. Alberton. She recommended surgery, explaining what needed to be done and why. She answered all my questions. Her staff was very friendly and, also, answered all of my questions. Since the surgery, I have had zero knee pain and I am back to doing everything I could do before my injury - including being able to fully exercise. I highly recommend Dr. Alberton - very professional, knows what she's doing and answered all my questions.

Left Knee Arthroscopy and meniscus repair
Dr. Alberton patiently explained me the situation I was in post my injury while playing soccer. My meniscal repair was immediately needed as it had folded into my joint which was limiting my extension. Post my 1st surgery, I had trouble achieving my flexion. She made sure to evaluate me periodically and finally suggested manipulation to help achieve flexion of my left knee. Post 2nd surgery, she recommended that I push harder than before as slacking could lead to slower recovery. She was happy with my progress and had conversations with my physical therapist to see how I was doing. It was a pleasure to have known Dr. Alberton and in retrospect have her as my surgeon. I would highly recommend her in case any of my acquaintance or close one has an injury or needs consultation.

Rotor cuff, long head bicep partial rupture
After 3 months of pt with no improvement I was sent to Dr Albertson for surgery. At that time, I could not lift 10 lbs from the ground or raise my arm above the shoulder. She evaluated, pressnted me with options and carefully explained the pros and cons of each option. Surgery was extensive involving a tendonopothy, cleaning debris from joints and rotor cuffs, some planing of bone After only 2 monthes, I am pain free outside of physical therapy and starting the strenght training portion of my recovery. FYI, 3 weeks ago I was able to pick up my 2 year old granddaughter. That was impossible before surgery Very pleased

I had a highly disappointing experience with Dr. Laura Alberton. Not only was she condescending, but she also displayed a complete lack of concern for my well-being. I visited her with a fractured ankle, in considerable pain, but she refused to listen to my complaints. To make matters worse, she dismissed my request for an MRI and simply suggested physical therapy. It was only when I sought a second opinion from another specialist that I discovered I indeed had an ankle fracture. Dr. Alberton's apparent indifference to my condition and her misdiagnosis left me with a sense of frustration and disappointment in her abilities as a medical professional.

Traumatic Experience
Years ago I had a terrible experience with Alberton. I had shoulder pain for months and was finally referred to her. When examining me, she asked me to raise my arm. I did what she asked and to what was comfortable without pain. And she said “oh, come on” and grabbed my wrist and yanked my arm above my head. I shrieked from the pain and burst into tears. I got the impression she thought I was faking it and her attitude seemed like I didn’t deserve any serious attention. This was an incredibly traumatic experience for me. For years after this visit, I’ve dismissed health concerns and made excuses for not seeing doctors because of this particular visit with this doctor. Living with chronic pain, I developed depression, anxiety, sleeping problems. I lost trust in the healthcare system because of her lack of compassion. I would never recommend her.

Dr Alberton is a fantastic surgeon. She thoroughly explained the procedure to me prior to surgery. And she explained what I could expect in recovery. I appreciated that as I didn't want any surprises. She did a wonderful job and I am very happy with my surgery and the recovery.

I rarely leave any reviews. In this case, I felt my review would help others in choosing the right provider. My only suggestion is to avoid going to Dr. Alberton. After your consultation you would be left miserable not knowing what to do and emotionally drained. She has no compassion and patience to listen to the patients problems. Is quite rude when talking to the patient even after knowing the seriousness of the injury and that the patient is emotionally drained.

Dr.Alberton has been my Dr for close to 3 year now and I love but hate to think of myself as a regular patient of hers. Initially upon meeting Dr.Alberton she was very short and to the point and told it how it was. I have major knee issues and have had multiple surgeries. Dr.Alberton performed my third ACL surgery and did a fantastic job. She and the scripps physical therapy team was there and a major help during my long recovery process. After my surgery and recovery Dr.Alberton was essential in diagnose my gout after an attack when my assigned rheumatologists missed it. I had to get fluid taken out of my knee a few times and it an experience that always gives me major anxiety and Dr.Alberton and her nurse Debbie had fantastic bed side manor and made the experience bearable. I cant say enough good things about my experiences throughout my treatments with Dr.Alberton.

Dr. Alberton was definitely not my kind of doctor. Very quick to judgment, didn't review my imaging prior to coming in the room and didn't review any of the questionnaires about how my condition was affecting my life. Talked over me most of the time. Didn't explain prognosis well. Basically in not so many words indicated my goals weren't important and that I don't need to be able to do the things I'd like to. If you want to have a discussion about different options for your injury then this is not doctor for you. I've heard she's a good surgeon but for me this doesn't make up for poor bedside manner when there are too many other options out there.

Dr. Alberton is a straight forward physician, which personally, I prefer. She did not throw me into surgery, which was another plus, but suggested PT and a cortisone shot. Both have helped tremendously! If you want someone to baby you, she might not be the right fit, however if you want a smart, straightforward Dr, with a sharp wit and sense of humor, she’ll be perfect for you!!
