Dr. Laura Slaughter, MD

My visit with Dr. Slaughter went very well. She is extremely knowledgeable and asked insightful questions which helped clarify my problems. I think this will lead to an extremely productive course of treatment.

I enjoy working with the entire Salience staff. They are quick to answer calls and get you answers quickly. Dr. Slaughter has been my provider for about 2 years, and I can't say enough good things! My mental health has been a long journey, and she always listens carefully and offers solutions that fit my needs.

Dr. Slaughter is a very caring, compassionate psychiatrist. She is very knowledgeable about medications that are helpful in improving mental health conditions. Since I started seeing her my depression and anxiety have significantly improved.

Dr Slaughter is a caring & very sharp doctor. I’m so glad I found her after seeing another psychiatrist for over 20 years who just up and disappeared without even a goodbye. Dr Slaughter’s practice is so well run and efficient too. The staff is great and everything pretty much runs like a well oiled machine. I highly recommend her if you’re struggling with any type of psych issue.

I have been with Dr. Slaughter for at least 4 years. She had her own practice for most of that time. About a year or so ago, she sold out to a huge medical place. I dont get to go into her beautiful office any longer. There are cold exam rooms that are 'made up' as a place to talk. When you call, it goes directly to a call center. Also, good luck in getting someone to send a message to the McKinney office, for anyone to call you back. She has changed her way of treating. She went from caring, compassionate, and empathetic. She doesnt take time to really listen. Instead, her face in her laptop, and barely looks up to actually see what her clients are saying. Im pretty sure she sold her practice to this huge medical place to just sit back and quickly get her patients in and out. She's not a good doctor any longer. It makes me incredibly sad to type this out. I miss her and her kindness. Now, im just stuck with the 'new' her.

Very professional medical provider. Compassionate and sincere as well. Unfortunately appears rather tardy due to heavy patient load. Would definitely recommend her.

Dr. Slaughter listens, responds to your specific concerns. She takes notes the whole time. She misses nothing. So far, I feel comfortable with her managing my psychological needs.

Dr. Slaughter is easy to talk to, gentle in her interactions. She took me from a very sad place to being happier than I’d been in years. I live better knowing that she’s there if I need her.

I've only had 1 visit and now 1st session for depression and TMS therapy after searching for alternative treatments for life long depression/anxiety. Dr. Slaughter was easy to talk to, and very informative in her recommendations. Look forward to the prospect of feeling normal and hopeful for a better future.

Excellent care Thorough Listens

The entire staff was amazing. Dr.Slaughter herself is so very easy to talk to and took her time understanding and asking questions to make sure she understood me. I would def go back.

After treating me for multiple conditions she diagnosed for years, she was unable to recognize Dissociative Identity Disorder when I told her my therapist was asking about this. I found another doctor, who had been trained in treating patients with DID and have had much improvement and have even gotten off some of the prescriptions Dr. Slaughter prescribed to me. I don't think she is a bad doctor, but she is not as up to date on the number of patients who actually have this disorder and so she is unable to catch it, even after seeing them for an extended period of time. Sadly, she is missing a lot of chances to help in this area.
