Dr. Lawrence Bandy, MD

I was referred to Dr. Bandy because of a cancer diagnosis from a recent procedure. Dr. Bandy explained everything and answered all of our questions. He is an older doctor who has practiced for a very long time - I loved that he had so much experience with these surgeries! I was in surgery three days later for a laparoscopy total hysterectomy. I have never had major surgery before and was quite nervous. All of the nurses and staff at Baptist reassured me - telling me how often they work with Dr. Bandy and how much they respect him and his work. He kept me in the hospital until he and I were reassured that I was well enough to travel home. (and I needed that care before we traveled home!) My scars are healing and look great.

I was referred to Dr Bandy by my PCP to remove a large abdominal mass. He was very thorough and caring and addressed all concerns that I and my family had. The surgery went well and aftercare was excellent.

Dr. Bandy performed a surgery on my elderly mother and removed some cancerous matter. He was kind enough to call me and give me a report after the biopsy was completed, and took lots of time to explain the options and risks. I really could not believe how generous he was with his time. He was very kind and I will not soon forget him.

Hearing the word Cancer is a frightening experience. Doctor Bandy treated me with respect, caring and compassion. I had complete confidence that I was seeing the best doctor possible.Follow-up was encouraging and again gave me peace I was in the right place. He explained everything so thoroughly, my family felt he was the best doctor to care for me.I could not be happier with the doctor he is…. He saved my life.

I had a laparoscopic robotic hysterectomy in April 2024. Dr. Bandy is very personable and took time to explain my procedure and stay in the hospital, as well as answering any questions or concerns that I had. His staff is very friendly also. My procedure went well, as planned, and negative for cancer, thanks goodness! I highly recommend Dr. Bandy and staff!

Becca, office help is GREAT. Shannon, doctor's nurse/assist is extremely offensive and on the defensive from the beginning. Dr. Bandy, offers nothing not asked - as if patient should know these things! Records from my surgery were NOT provided to my GP as I had been told they would be four weeks post surgery! Shannon informed me she WILL NOT send records unless the request comes directly to them from the GP or whomever needs to see it. Dr. Bandy leaves patients concerns with Shannon and seems to have no interest in talking to his patients himself. Post surgery, he came in my room ONE time and never told me before or after the surgery what I might expect to feel or experience which, in my case, was quite a load to handle. I called his office for some general after surgery questions and, again, he had Shannon address this. Her response was to tell me I should ask my oncologist! Really? Bandy performed the surgery and is supposedly an expert in ob/gyn. She says he is not responsible!

Follow ups for 2 years after being told cancer free “everything looks great” while tumor continues to grow. No hysterectomy done following radiation. Uterus filling up with blood slowly and his thought was “still having a period”?!?! (after cervical radiation!!!??) he shouldn’t be a doctor. Glad he left Charleston. Sorry my mom had to be sacrificed for his stupidity and lack of aggressive treatment.

Dr. Bandy treated me 17 years ago. Loved he and his staff.

Dr Bandy and all his staff were exceptionally professional and comforting and compassionate, explaining my diagnosis, re assuring me that the surgery would resolve my condition and listened to my concerns.

Dr Bandy is a lifesaver. His staff is very friendly and accommodating. I was well informed with each step. Dr. Bandy was able to quickly fit me in for surgery. There were no complications. 6 weeks out and I am feeling good. I was made to feel appreciated and welcome.

I think Dr Bandy is a terrific surgeon. From what I was told by other doctors my surgery would be extremely difficult. On the advice of 3 other doctors I saw Dr Bandy. I was told if anyone has the skills for this surgery it’s him. And they were right! My recovery went smooth and he watched me closely after to make sure everything was working the way it should. I was surprised to get as many phone calls from his office just checking on me as I did. It is truly a caring office! Highly recommended!

I was sent to Dr. Bandy through my PC Gyn. I couldn’t have been happier. It was a stressful and scary time and they took care of everything from scheduling me quickly to taking his time during my initial visit (and every other visit) to explain everything and answer every question. The wait times are often long, but it’s worth it bc Dr. Bandy will spend as much time with you as you need him to. It is the first time I’ve been to a doctor with 1 exam room and 1 nurse, which means when it’s your turn, all their focus is on you. It’s been 1 year of screening, 2 surgeries and follow-ups and every step has been amazing. (And quality was maintained even through Corona Times).

Dr. Bandy and his nurse Brook were excellent to work with. My surgery went well and he took very good care of me. Answering all my questions along the way and making me feel important.

Dr. Bandy is very good. He explained everything to me, let me ask questions, answered me precisely, I could understand him and he put me at ease. He quickly took care of my problem and has put me on the right track to get completely healed. Would and have recommended him.

Dr. Bandy presented a unique combination of experience, skill, and efficiency with concern, compassion and effective communication with both me as a patient and my supporting family. When the hospital staff and his fellow oncologist consistently tell you how lucky you were to get him as your surgeon, and your family says he is the best they have seen in seventy years of multiple surgeries, it makes the ease and speed of my recovery more understandable. Highly recommended.

The wait was incredibly long! He is very thorough and straight forward but bedside manner is poor. It remains to be seen how good of a doctor he is as I am still awaiting treatment but they do get to you fast! He didn't seem a very happy man. Maybe he was having an off day? We all do sometime but he needs to remember...we have cancer and are having a really bad life!

Wonderful doctor and awesome staff . From my first visit I was treated with great respect from everyone.Every thing was explained and discussed in great detail so I was comfortable with all that was discussed . The staff was friendly and met all my needs. I was scheduled for surgery as soon as possible and they went above out of their way to be sure my needs were met.Dr. Bandi met with me before surgery to reassure me. He came to my room every day to check on me . I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Bandy, this is the lady who presented to you very ill just a little over 3 years ago. You saved my life from admitting me to the hospital, directing my care and being at every meeting with all the doctors that treated me. You were in charge and I never felt like I was going to lose the battle of Extra Ovarian Cancer. I took 64 Radiation Treatments and 5 rounds of Platinum Chemo at your direction and I am cancer free on all scans. Thankyou, you are truly my hero. Hugs you tight

Mrs. Just is an angel. She went above and beyond, fighting with Medicaid the whole way to make sure I could be seen. She truely touched my heart with the lengths she went to in order for me to get the appt. I so desperately needed. Mrs. Brooke is an amazing nurse and Very caring. She did an awesome job of making me comfortable, in a really uncomfortable situation. I don't like doctors...at all. I must say Dr. Bandy is the exception. He was very respectful and straight forward.
