Dr. Lawrence Hurwitz, MD

I came to him knowing my diagnosis from my previous therapist and doctor. But he spent time going over my family history. I was already on medication, which wasn't working so well. So he made adjustments and recommended something else to help. He encouraged me to give them time to work and not get frustrated. It has taken a while for our relationship to grow enough where I feel comfortable talking, but he listens.

Pill pusher plain and simple. He put me on 3 different meds after about 5 minutes of talking to me. He then tried very hard to push a specific MAOI on me. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a psychiatrist. The man literally fell asleep in our session. You sit in silence for about 15 minutes and then it’s “okay see you next week”. This man is an absolute HACK and made multiple medication errors (Buproprion and Buspirone are not the same thing sir). I could go on, but I’m out of characters. AVOID

Dr hurwitz should loose his license to practice . During an ongoing custody litigation he saw my child without my permission (share joint legal custody) He consulted with one parent ( the one seeking custody & was withholding visitation from me for over 3 weeks) then Dr. h diagnosed my child with bi polar and recommend meds after meeting w child for 1 hr. & wrote a letter recommending that my child not reside with me.. mind you I'm a custodial parent he had never meant or spoke to.

Dr. H is rude. He appears angry and stressed. He is insulting. He does not know some common medical terminology. He does not listen carefully or well. I believe he does more harm than good. He is controlling and a bully. His evaluation is not thougough enough in order to prescribe medication.
