Not a good provider
Lawrence Sporty is, frankly put, a bad provider. Most of my interactions with him left me feeling not listened to. In my experience with mental health providers I've had my symptoms first minimized and then, when I was given a more severe diagnosis, stigmatized for being too severe. Somehow Lawrence Sporty managed to do both. Anyone who is smart and good at memorization can memorize a list of meds, but only those who lead with compassion truly make great psychiatrists. It is this that Lawrence Sporty lacks. He will be kind to you when you do what he wants, but the minute you veer away from being the ideal patient he will change from being a nice guy to being flat-out mean. I gave him 2 stars because I know someone else who had a good experience with him, but he is really hit or miss. If you look at the other reviews you will see that he either receives five stars or one star, not a good sign. You might have an amazing experience with - I know someone who did. But tread carefully.

We started seeing Dr. Sporty when no other doctor could help. Their cure was one hospitalization after another. One medication after another. They almost killed me. Dr. Sporty through caring concern was able to stabilize my condition. He was always there when needed. He is the best.

He dropoped me like a bucket when he was asked for a copy of his record- after more than 16 years. I went diligently, missed only a few meetings. but he was always paid. $125.00 for 1/2 hour to write prescriptions that any doctor could write. I couldn't believe it when I received a scathing email because his records for a few years were asked to be copied. There are no legal proceedings - at all - after I paid approximately $8,500 in out of pocket expenses written from my checkbook to thi
