He has Retired
Not sure why all the bad reviews, Dr. Zemel treated me for Type 1 diabetes for many years, and was always patient and understanding. He always hooked me up with free samples of insulin as well. I am sorry he has retired, as now I have to find someone as good as he was. Now his office was crazy at times, and he seemed to run behind a great deal, but overall, I will miss him.

No not even my worst enemy MINUS-5 or worse
I WAS WITH A DOCTOR FOR OVER 3O YEARS AND HE RETIRED IN 2020. AT THAT TIME DR. ZEMEL HAD MOVED INTO THE SAME OFFICE SO I ASSUMED (HE WOULD BE COMPASSIONATE OR AT LEAST SOME IF ANY BED SIDE MANNER) I WAS SO WRONG. I HAD SEEN HIS PA'S TWICE BUT THIS WAS MY FIRST MEETING HIM. AND THE LAST. I WOULD HAVE LEFT BUT WAS SO ILL I JUST WANTED TO FEEL BETTER. HE DID NOT CHECK MY VITALS, NOR DID HE EVEN GET CLOSER THAN 5 FEET. I DO HAVE MY COVID SHOTS WITH BOOSTER AND TOOK A HOME TEST EARLIER THAT DAY. MARCH 4TH 2022. HE DID NOT HAVE BLOOD DRAWN WHICH, I DID FAST FOR. HE DIDN'T HAVE A URINE SAMPLE. HE WAS UPSET ABOUT A FAX AND DIDN'T EVEN GO PAST THE EXAMING ROOM FOR 40-45 MINUTES AND WAS ALREADY VERY IRRATATED. HE SAID IT WILL BE A LITTLE LONGER DO TO THE FAX. I RESPONDED WITH CAN YOU PLEASE HURRY I AM SO SICK AND VOMITING FOR DAYS. HE ANGRILY RESPONDED WITH IF YOU TRY TO IMPRESS ME BY TELLING ME HOW SICK YOU ARE I WILL SEND YOU TO THE ER. IF IT WASN'T COVID AND SUCH A RISK I WOULD HAVE LEFT.

I'm not sure why the bad reviews. I have been seeing Dr. Zemel and his staff for 4 years now. I have always been treated with respect. Dr. Zemel takes more time than any other doctor I have seen to explain things. He doesn't tell you what you want to hear, especially about diabetes. He tells you what you need to hear and it saved my life. He doesn't push drugs and many diabetics , just want the Dr. to prescribe a pill or more insulin to control blood sugars (I was one), instead of telling the patient to own up and take responsibility. Your adults, act like one. You eat the chocolate cake and can't understand why your blood sugars are high. Dr. Zemel will tell you to stop eating the cake, get exercise and will probably send you to the diabetic educator/dietician. He's a great doctor with a great staff, just don't expect to be coddled.

This man clearly cares very little for his patients. He did not address kidney disease and actually told me NOT to go to a kidney Dr. Very glad I didn't listen! He didn't want to do anything about rising blood sugar even though both kidney Dr and ophthalmologist wanted better control. Had to argue for changes in medication. SO glad we found a different Dr! Don't see this guy for diabetes, you will be very sorry if you do!

I wish I had read these reviews before. This office definitely deserves their bad reviews. The office staff is HORRIBLE. Don't expect to ever get called back. Appointments were constantly cancelled. Very condescending and uncaring. I called with an urgent need of medication. 2 weeks later, still nothing, just everyone passing the buck. Leave this practice, RUN as fast as you can. It is that bad!!! Also, not all patients treated the same, if you are "somebody".

extremely rude, unprofessional, and condescending; empathy is the very least a doctor can give a patient, and this man has none. very into reactive rather than proactive medicine, and his practice is very old fashioned. he spent most of our appointment talking about himself and is objectively the worst

He's very knowledgeable about endocrinology, but he allows his staff to run a real sh*t show. You'll stand there in front of reception and they just ignore you, they just keep talking to each other like your invisible. I waited 45 minutes for my appointment along with 2 other in the waiting room and they complained to me about the staff too- so it's not an isolated incident. I wish I could say that it's because they are busy, but these "girls"literally don't want to be of assistance.

I know that mistakes happen and people are human; however, it was disconcerting that Dr. Zemel confused me for another patient during my appointment and subsequently told me I had thyroid cancer when I didn't. In addition, he shamed me on multiple occasions for going to the Emergency Room when I was gravely ill. Not my best experience in a doctor's office that reinforced my concern over a very broken medical system... Once again, I know mistakes happen but this could have been a disaster...

Unbelievably rude, condescending, just plain mean man. Hard to figure out how he still has patients as he has no bedside manner, speaks over you, insults you... Worst experience I have ever had with a doctor.

I never met him because they scheduled me with his PA for my introductory visit and all my consultations were with her. She has the WORST bedside manner of anyone I've ever encountered in a medical setting. She was judgmental and unsupportive, provided me with several inaccurate medical recommendations, and labeled me with diagnosis based on one test result that ended up being a fluke. Dr. Zemel isn't running a professional practice because he allows her to care for patients.
