Dr. Shi is not only an amazing Surgeon, he is one of the kindest Physician’s I know. Intelligent, cares for his patients, explains procedure, excellent follow up and the top Surgeon in my opinion for shoulder rotator cuff repair. I was a very difficult case and suburban Surgeon could not do the surgery. Dr. Shi not only confidently gave me hope his expertise surpassed all expectations. Dr. Shi is the real thing, BEST of the BEST! Previous Surgeon consult would not or could not take on my complicated case. I had a serious rotator cuff tear leaving me with zero range of motion. 2 yrs after reverse shoulder replacement, I began having severe pain and returned to ortho surgeon #1. An X-ray clearly showed loose screws but instead of telling me and dealing with this directly, surgeon #1 sent me to pt. I finally went to ortho surgeon #2 who ordered some additional blood tests and CT scan. Then he referred me to ortho surgeon #3, Dr Shi. Dr Shi explained that loosening might be from original installation or possibly an infection. He removed the original hardware, scraped out the area and sent it to the lab, filled the defect with a bone graft and installed an antibiotic spacer. Nothing grew in the lab. Dr Shi let everything heal for several months and then did another reverse shoulder replacement. Within weeks, I had pain free full range of motion back. My PT was amazed at the results. He is simply the best. Thank you, Dr Shi!

Dr. Shi has superb communication and surgical skills. He made me feel very comfortable and allows me to participate in the decision making.

I have known Dr. Shi now for over two years. My brother has been a patient of his and has gone through two surgeries with him. Dr. Shi cannot be more caring, empathetic, and a true problem solver. He does not rush into surgeries. He tries every other treatment approach before going into surgery. In fact, I think we had to convince him to do surgery. Dr. Shi seems is genuinely concerned about the well-being of his patients. Whenever I had a question and reached out at Midnight, he replied back within minutes. I was shocked. Dr. Shi even called me at wee hours of the morning to check on things with me and see how my brother was doing. This really had a tremendous impact for me. It showed me what a special individual Dr. Shi is. My brother has not been the smoothest of patients at all times, but, who is.
