Decent Rheumatologist
Dr. Forbess, based on my experience working with her is that she is a very thorough doctor and has been more helpful versus my local rheumatologist. She performed many tests that helped me learn about disorders I never thought I had, and she prescribed me a medication for the condition I came to her for, when my other doctors told me that they weren't going to help me. I am sorry to anyone who has had a bad experience with Dr. Forbess, but I think she is a very diligent specialist and has been more help than any of my previous doctors.

My first appointment: I was 45 minutes late. Could not find my house keys. Was having a stroke, but I did not realize what was going on. Dr. Forbess did not connect my symptoms with a stroke. Within hours, I was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. I experienced significant brain damage. If Dr. Forbess had recognized my symptoms, I could have had a better outcome. Next appointment with Dr. Forbess, I told her I had a stroke during my previous appointment. Jokingly, she asked “Did I cause it?” I did not find that so hilarious, as, if she had a brain cell, she would have realized I was having a stroke. Then, on checking out, the clerk said in addition to the $30.00 co-pay, I owed them $45.00 for cost of paperwork. I asked the doctor to waive it. She told me to find another doctor. I am not kidding about any of this. Dr. Forbess is greedy, mercantile, stupid, incompetent, rude, and condescending. Hard to believe she is allowed to practice.

Dr. Forbess is a wonderfully rare doctor whose primary concern is to help the patient feel well. She is thorough, kind, empathetic, and literally everything that you’d want in a doctor: an extraordinarily capable and thorough physician, who doesn’t treat you like an object, and instead treats you like a human being in need of care - care that she provides with great empathy and compassion. I honestly think my autoimmune disease is improving based on, to some extent, Dr. Forbess’s kindness alone.

I have been Dr. Forbess' patient for over a year now and since my very first visit, Dr. Forbess has always been warm, attentive, thorough and compassionate. She was recommended to me by a leading New York City Rheumatologist and I feel so fortunate and blessed to have found her. She's been by my side every step of the way through my health crisis and I couldn't ask for more. Dr. Forbess is in practice with Dr. Elayne Garber who is also wonderful. They are both caring and superb!

Not that thorough, doesn't remember details about medical issues (and is so rushed that she doesn't consult her notes before coming in the room) and asks her mother, who works in the same practice, her opinion before making decisions. Do not recommend Dr. Forbess.
