Dr. Linzy Fitzsimons, MD

My husband had shoulder surgery and was told by Dr. Fitzsimmons that she would perform a nerve block prior to putting him under general anesthesia. In the OR she attempted to do the block and made a statement that it probably would not work due to my husband's weight. Not once did she say preoperatively that his size would hinder her success and obtaining the block. From my own knowledge of being an OR nurse I knew this could happen. In recovery my husband woke up in extreme pain and aware the block did not work. Dr. Fitzsimmons was told and instructed the PACU nurses to just administer more IV pain meds and continue with the discharge. I requested that his surgeon be notified. The surgeon came by and we requested to see if a different anesthesiologist would be willing to try again since she did not show any interest in attempting to perform it a second time. She came back and was very frustrated that we requested this and begrudgingly offered to do it. Rude, lacks empathy.
