Dr. Lisa Gelman-Koessler, MD

I started going to Buffalo OBGYN when I was pregnant with my first child 9 years ago. Recently I went for a consistent pain I had been having for months. I saw Dr Gelman for those 3 visits. She rushed through the appointment each time and after 2 ultrasounds didn't find anything she basically told me I was out of luck even after I continued to voice my concerns. I went to my primary, a new OBGYN and a surgeon and after a CT, a few different kinds of ultrasounds, an endometrial biopsy and surgery to remove the mass, it was confirmed I have endometriosis. Thank goodness I found drs that listened to me and didn't blow me off like Dr Gelman.

I had a wonderful GYN, but retired, therefore I got established with Buffalo OB/GYN. I recently had my first time meeting Dr. Gelman for my annual, and I left the office upset and unheard. She rushed right through the exam, and did not explain anything she was about to do before she did it. It was abrupt and caught me off guard. I felt that she was not a trauma-informed clinician at all. I felt I did not the opportunity to ask questions, and when I did ask about further routine testing, she blew me off and said it wasn't necessary unless I had signs and symptoms; which I know for a fact is not the correct standard of care approach. So disappointed, and will be leaving this practice, and in search for someone who takes the time to be present with their patient, compassionate, empathetic, and a place where I don't feel like a number in a caseload for the day.

Blew me off and not personable. It doesn't hurt to actually try and at least act like you care about your patients.

Dr Gelman is fantastic. She is kind, caring and compassionate.

She is good and listens however, I am leaving as a patient. I had an appointment, I live about a hour away and I left in plenty of time to get there But my gps sent me the opposite way on Main Street . Witihin 5 minutes of my appointment time (late) I called to let them know I had gotten lost. I was there within 15 min. Of my time but they would not see me. There have been plenty of times I waited 15 monutes after my appointment time to be seen but that doesn't matter to them.
