Avoid this doctor
I began seeing Dr. Sams in February of 2022. At the time I had issues that I felt were related to my gallbladder. During the first visit he prescribed an antidepressant without explaining that it was an antidepressant. He just said it would help me sleep. Little did I know that this drug has been linked to dementia and memory problems. I would find that out over a year later. At the time, after complaining about this symptom, he kept me on the drug and even titrated the dose up. Meanwhile, he continued to ignore my complaints related to my gallbladder. After a year under his care I demanded an ultrasound, and sure enough my gallbladder needed to be removed. At that point, I had lost faith in his care and stopped taking the drug he had prescribed. Big mistake. Because he never informed me, I wasn’t aware that you can’t stop an antidepressant cold turkey. This cascaded through my life for the next year dealing with horrible withdrawals. Avoid this doctor.

I moved to the area and didn't have a PCP, but the local (unaffiliated) walk-in clinic recommended Dr. Sams "if he's taking new patients." Thankfully, he was. Dr. Sams is extremely thorough and never makes me feel like I'm rushed. His office uses MyChart, which means there's always an open line of communication, and he has gone above and beyond to get me in whenever I've had a concern. As someone who has only recently started experiencing health issues, it's be comforting to have Dr. Sams on my side guiding me back to health. Him and his staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and work really hard to take care of me.

Dr. Sams is a very caring and conscientious Dr. He checks EVERYTHING during your wellness physical, and listens to all concerns. He is strict with his instructions and expects you to follow through with his recommendations for better health. As mentioned before, why waste your time and his if you are not going to follow through. I love his sense of humor, and most of all, I love that he treats me with respect and always makes me feel better - if I just listen!!! and obey!!!! :)

He is very selective in what problems patients report that he chooses to respond to. I am a well educated healthcare professional and am appalled at his indifference to side effects from medications. He only wants to focus on problems that he can make money on. He can be rude if you don't comply with his agenda.

Dr. Sams is one of the most thorough doctors I know. He does his own blood pressures and checks his patients head to toes if he thinks it is necessary based on information that the patient gives him. He takes his work very seriously. He will tell you what to do to get better and if you don't follow his instructions, he may tell you to see another doctor. He wants to see patients that want to be helped and therefore it doesn't waste the patient's time or his. He is a wonderful doctor!!!!!

I went to Dr. Sams a few times and it became clearer with each new visit what his motto "Comprehensive care guided by the physician, but supported by patient compliance and continuity" means. It means that Dr. Sams wants the patient to comprehensively undergo unnecessary-for-the-patient but profitable-for-Dr-Sams procedures and do so with silent compliance and continuity. Once it became clear that he is in medicine to make maximum money by fleecing the patient, I never went to him again.

I hadn't seen Dr. Sams in a while. I called to see if I could get in due to unexplained swelling in my left leg. (It has gone from my foot to mid thigh now). He had his little politically correct nurse call me. She said he asked her to share a few things with me. Long story short, he refused me treatment. Said since I had not been there in two years, I was no longer an established patient. Also said I had to come in once a year for a physical and every six months for a follow up. BLONY
