Hands down, my favorite doctor thus far!
Dr. Mariscal made me feel comfortable from the moment I first met with him. He was beyond thorough in explaining everything I needed to know regarding my treatment plan. He sat with me for nearly an hour and not once did he make me feel rushed. What I found most impressive was his knowledge of my medical records without one time having to flip through my chart in front of me. I’ve seen quite a few doctors since this breast cancer journey began a little over a year ago and he knew more about my medical history than all of them combined. I look forward to seeing both he and his wonderful staff during follow up appointments. Hopefully you won’t need to see a radiation oncologist but if you ever do, look no further than Dr. Luis Mariscal!

The best doctor I’ve ever met!
Dr. Mariscal is so easygoing and fun to talk to and answers all my questions, I actually really look forward to my follow up visits (4 years cancer free with and aggressive brain tumor). This is a pretty busy office but they work hard to see patients on time and the staff is great. They also offer state of the art care and have a close affiliation for research with UCLA. I’ve referred 5 friends with cancer here as well, and one is on a cutting edge clinical trial for early lung cancer using focused radiation and immune therapy. The best!!!

Radiation treatment for breast cancer
Dr. Mariscal designed my radiation treatment following my lumpectomy and met with me weekly. He is easy to talk to and asks if you have questions. He and his staff were very caring and provided great care. They got me in daily as quickly as possible often before my scheduled time. I strongly recommend he and the other staff at Adventist Health.

Had initial visit to discuss recommendations for treatment. 20 radiation treatments and once a week after the treatment saw Dr. Mariscal. Reviewed area of treatment and addressed my concerns. A few weeks after completion I again saw Dr. Mariscal. Very pleased with Dr. Mariscal and the team at AIS.

Just had my two year post radiation checkup from the neckup for throat cancer. While not a wildly comfortable experience (laryngoscopy) Dr. Mariscal has made it as good as it could be for me with a snort of lidocaine to stop the gagging reflex. Best part of course is all is well two years after finishing radiation. My time with Dr. Mariscal has always given me confidence in his knowledge and expertise, I recommend him highly as a physician. My entire experience with the rest of his staff and the radiation techs at AIS has also been outstanding; they all been quick to help, courteous, and knowledgeable at what they do.

Received radiation as a follow up to stage 4 neck cancer surgery. I could not have been more pleased with the entire experience. Dr. Mariscal was extremely informative and gave us an amazing amount of time going over what we could expect and answering our questions. The office and the staff are wonderful which makes the experience easier. I would recommend Dr. Mariscal to anyone. Bakersfield is lucky to have him.

I cannot believe the review by "Dr. Google". This person obviously thinks they know more about Radiation and Cancer than a doctor who has been treating patients and studying these fields for 10 years. Sometimes the internet is not a good thing. My mother was treated by Dr. Mariscal a number of years ago and now at the age of 92 is still doing great. We found the experience at AIS Cancer Center extremely professional. Dr. Mariscal was warm and caring. He was very thorough and did not "sugar coat" his findings or the treatment recommended. Cancer is a terrible thing and it is natural for us to go into denial when diagnosed. Dr. Mariscal and his staff at AIS went above and beyond in the treatment, care and follow up of my mother and I can't recommend him enough.

I'm not sure what the previous reviewer is talking about but Dr. Mariscal has been nothing short of amazing treating my wife who has a GBM on both sides of the front of the brain... she just passed 2 years since surgery and has no real side effects or problems. Dr. Mariscal continues to see her regularly and set her up with a new treatment that follows radiation and chemotherapy called Optune. He cares so much for his patients and is truly the best doctor we have ever met!

Very thankful patient – Jul 25, 2019
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Mariscal?
Dr. Mariscal seemed fantastic initially when we met with him. By the end of our initial meeting I was asking questions that I found on clinical websites and he referred to me as Dr. Google, it only took by 20 minutes for him to belittle me. He claims to know more than he does and should not be treating or following up with GBM patients. He does not have the expertise nor does he stay current with trials that are out there. He completely buys into SOC and directs his patients against anything other than Chemo and Radiation aka what he gets paid on. He claims certain vitamins and supplements can negative effect SOC, but in reality they are shown to enhance effects and make the chemo and radiation work better! If you are in Bakersfield and have a GBM brain tumor seek treatment else where! At my moms last appointment before passing away she completed a questionnaire that was basically asking for help, he didn’t address it, nor did he care her eyes were closed the whole appointment! RUN!!
