dismissed my symptoms
I've never had a physician be so dismissive of what I had to say. I felt like he labeled me a 'tired mom' because I have 2 young children. I explained my fatigue was incredibly debilitating and my ANA was quite elevated, along with terrible joint pain. When I finally moved and found a new rheumatologist, who is amazing, he was surprised at the lack of treatment from Dr. Relan. I have my life back now thanks to this new rheumatologist. I can't imagine what misery I'd still be in if I were still seeing Dr. Relan. If you want someone to actually listen to you and believe you, I would not recommend this physician.

Great Doctor and Staff
Staff is always helpful and makes it easy to schedule or call for questions. My wife and I both see Dr. Relan. Our appointments are never rushed and Dr. Relan takes time to listen, examine, review labs and explain any concerns. He knows when something is significant and requires immediate treatment and when it is best not to make condition worse by treatments that don’t yield positive results. Very professional and trustworthy.

Used to be so good
When I was a new patient he was very interested. He spent time with me and shared information. Now I’m old hat. No time to deal with anything other than his laptop. He seems afraid to touch me. I’m not contagious. I tell him what my concerns and needs are and he tells me to live with it. When the tears flowed he finally took some interest and was willing to try something new. I think it is time to look for a new dr. His current staff is top notch!

Too bad – Oct 04, 2022
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Relan?
Dr. Relan was aloof and dismissive. He released me as a patient to see someone "with more experience." He only did a minimal exam after I insisted, and he billed for a 10 minute exam, which must have included 9.5 minutes to put on gloves. Office staff staff stood chatting by the door as I struggled to get out with my walker. I have never received back my records. All around negative experience!

Is an excellent doctor; takes the time to listen to you, and explains everything. He takes very good care of me; especially when it comes to my auto-immune disease.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Relan?
After speaking to the front staff, Jennifer to be specific, I chose to ask my referring dr to chose a new one because I refused to go see Dr Relan after already having confrontation with front staff. Shows a lot about the boss, leadership or in this case medical provider. But I should have known seeing his affiliates with St Vincent’s…. So off to Colorado for someone more versed in my particular complex rheumatology challenges. Which I already fly into to Denver for work so for me luckily was an option. I feel blessed after reading reviews about the Dr, to have escaped that trauma. Glad it stopped with Jennifer.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Relan?
Seems bored with me after I refused a pain doctor. I was a challenge initially and he spent a good quality time with me. Now that he can’t do much he asks how things are and tells me to come back in 3 months. I never had a rheumatologist who doesn’t touch a patient (before and after covid) until this one.

For starters, I'd say to be careful when reading these reviews! This was the most unfriendly, remote dr I've met. He realized I used a medical term and asked if I was a retired nurse. I was a nurse. Not retired. He became hostile afterwards. He didn't talk to me about his thoughts re my conditions. Ordered tests and honed in on the fact that I left a rheum at Mayo. Be wary. Not informative and negative in demeanor. I have other specialists that are wonderful drs. Relan doesn't meet my standards!

He took the time to go over my entire history the 1st visit and explained easy to understand what he felt my problem was. Scheduled me for lab work and on the follow up was very clear in what he believes to be the correct diagnoses and the path to follow to get me on track
