I had blood clots for years..finally Sam Hiser, now at NEA, but at the time was with Clopton Clinic. did blood tests and referred me to Dr. Monte. Dr. Monte suggested my family be tested as he diagnosed me as Factor V Liden Mutation, no doctor over the years had ever suggested having this test...I had blood clots in lung, several times in leg, I am on coumidin for life. On Dr. Monte's advice so far a daughter, a son, gdaughter, brother, cousins are Factor V. I don't know why there isn't more info for this. My gmother and a niece died from blood clot to heart and lung. several of my brothers had strokes and died. A cousin in his 50's kept having Mini strokes, after I told him what Dr. Monte said, he was tested, yep, factor V. Put on Coumidin and is doing great. Thank you Dr. Monte and Sam Hiser, My husband Charles had Dr. Monte..we can't say enough good about him. He was always pleasant, explained things to us..but when I called AMH, they said he had retired. we need more like him.
