Left with Inadvertent Temporary Nerve Pain
I left the appointment with inadvertent elbow nerve pain that lasted 2 months following a cortisone shot. Cortisone shots come with the risk that the doctor could hit a nerve. However, I felt this doctor moved too quickly and failed to discuss the risks.

Today June 6th 2024 I went to see Dr Bas for the first time. Being I've been through all the testing for carpal tunnel maybe not by his office but by every other office I've seen and I am beyond the rist guards, cortisone shots, and any non-surgical treatment that he may deem important I've been through it all it is time for the surgery relieve the tension on the nerve but no he decided without even asking to do cortisone shots he did not tell me what he was doing he just did it without my permission. It is now time for a real doctor to see me to do my surgery which is required ASAP. The classification of calling himself a surgeon is a joke he's not a surgeon he's an unlicensed person calling himself a doctor. His PA is just as bad failing to listen when I tell him that I can't use my hands to do anything he tells me I have to wait a few days which means because I can't hold a key to unlock my front door sitting in my car for the next 4 days.

Uncaring
He performed surgery on my thumb. Second visit after surgery he wrote in my chart that the patient was able to touch thumb to the base of the pinky. I am a month past that visit & still cannot do that. I am clearly having issues but when I call to make an earlier appt they do not call you back. Apparently I found out only 1 person can change an appt, no matter what issues you are having they will not fit you in so basically suffer in silence. I would never recommend this practice

Unimpressed
Met Dr Marcel Bas for an updated xray, cast removal & assess mobility for weight bearing PT1) He wanted to know why we waited 6 weeks for an appt. Ummmm, maybe because that's what Northwell Hospitals discharge papers instructed .2) He was unable to call up medical history, even though prior provider was a Northwell Hospital. (Isn't that whyit was recommended we see a NW Orthopedic? To access records?)3) Dr Bas was unprepared for questions, & presented as overwhelmed, stating 'you are both coming at me with questions'4) Dr Bas contradicted his findings. First all is fine. No brace/support needed. Then ordered a wrist brace to use 'as needed'.5) When we requested a written report for PT, he was curt, then scribbled out 4 letters which apparently stood for something but he didn't elaborate what it meant. Then directed us to the front desk.6) icing on the cake was him offering pain meds to the 90 yr old patientStaff were all lovely, but Would NOT recommend Dr Marcel Bas
