Incredibly kind. Smart. Inspires trust. Delightful to talk to. Connects with her patients and takes responsibility to be involved. Available. Works in partnership with you to establish L&D plan in advance. Continues to care about the mother too, after the baby is born. (So important! ACOG needs to get real about 4th/5th trimester care for women!) Advocate. Appears to enjoy being dedicated to her job. Dr. Smid is truly wonderful. Talking to her you sense that her academic and surgical skills are strong. This is complimented by excellent interpersonal communication skills. I had a subpar experience a general OB at The U with my prior pregnancy. This sub-specialist is about infinity billion times better. So glad I happened to find her. Summary: Dr. Smid has the perfect mix of clinical skills and human decency.
