Unnecessary interventions
Dr. Vanvleet used very narrow measures of health to inform or justify unnecessary interventions with my baby. After birth baby had C-PAP due to a pulse oximeter reading even though the readings at that age are notoriously unreliable, all other measures said he was well and still transitioning. Later she recommended supplementation after every feed due to weight loss even though my milk hadn’t come in yet and others described to me the ways my baby was not showing any risk factors other than just the weight itself.
