Dr. Maria Tayag, MD

Dr. Maria Christina Tayag has been my Internal medicine doctor for over 20 years. In 2006, I became very ill & was hospitalized several times. Dr. Tayag assured me she would leave no stone unturned & she didn’t! She called in another Doctor, Dr. Frederick Oni & he performed a colonoscopy on me. I was 43 years old. He saw some suspicious places & biopsied them. It wasn’t long before Dr. Tayag was putting me in the hospital again, when Dr. Oni called her & told her I had the first stage of Colon Cancer. Dr. Tayag told him She had just sent me to HMC for inpatient care. Dr. Oni immediately came to HMC to talk with my husband & I & explain the surgical procedure I would need immediately. Dr. T. Kent McBride performed my Colon Resection & I will never forget the words he spoke to me once I was awake from surgery, “he got it all but had this happened 6 months down the road this would have been a very different story”. I owe Dr. Maria C. Tayag my very life! She is my trusted Doctor & Friend!

She’s very condescending. She wants to refer me to different specialists before she fills a prescription even though I’ve been taking my medications for many, many years and have gone through medical evaluations. Wait time is very long, more than an hour. She’s never seen me on-time for my appointment. And she will rush talking to you and out the door she goes (15 minutes the most). She doesn’t go out of her way to gain patient trust that’s why I feel uncomfortable talking to her.

Difficulty to get refills in a timely fashion. I usually had to call a couple of times and leave messages. When I brought it to Dr. Cristina Tayag’s attention I got lectured and scolded like a child like it was my fault that it took 2 weeks to get refills. The final straw was that I had to get her notes to appeal a $5,000 hospital bill bc the insurance wouldn’t pay and I was astonished what she was billing, bc some of the stuff wasn’t done during the visit and how she lied to cover herself and put it on me. Little did she know that i saved my screenshots from the pharmacy and documents and the appeal was granted and the insurance paid the hospital bill.

I have been trying to get one of my medicines refilled. I have called Dr. Maria Tayag’s office many times yesterday and today, but no one answers her office phone number: 478 929-2909. Please respond. Thank you.

I’ve been going to see Dr Tayag for close to 8 years. Today I received an answer I was not expecting and will be the last time I visit her, taking my business somewhere else. Her prescription refill process is to call her office (with busy & have to leave a message). Finally the staff for prescription called me (she was very nice), and told me the doc would not refill my prescription without first seeing her. I said really, we’ll, thank you and I’m taking my business somewhere else. She than realized the mistake and asked me if I had ran out of my meds. Why would I call her for a prescription refill if I’m not running out. Bad practice.

Wasted my time with the staff, she may be a good doctor but can’t manage the office. Won’t be back.

Love Dr Tayag - she is professional, caring, never in a hurry and always listens. However, staff is just the opposite not very friendly towards patients.

Hands down, Dr. Maria Cristina Tayag is one of the very best doctors in the Middle Georgia area. She is very easy to talk to about anything and always takes the time to listen before making any decisions on what type of exam, care, or treatment is needed. I like that she can look beyond a single problem and treats the patient as a whole person. She is one of a kind!
