Dr. Mark Birdsong, MD

Had been in severe pain for 3 days and was referred to Dr. Birdsong. I can’t sing his praises enough. I found him to be very gifted in this field, informed me regarding what to expect, and I felt very at ease with him performing my gallbladder removal and the post-op synopsis and expectations. I will definitely refer friends and family to Dr. Birdsong, he’s the best in this field!

First off I want A surgeon who is direct and straight up! The bad reviews are such BS. He is a busy man and he can’t spend all day discussing your life first off. Second he will save your life!!! You could have a weak surgeon who spoon feeds you BS of you could have him.What to say about Dr. Birdsong I can’t put in a small review but I will do my best to tell you in a short summary. First off he treated my mom for a rectal issue. He was kind and caring and to be honest wonderful. He came back and spoke with her and then at her post visit after surgery he sat and spoke with her not only as a doctor but a good human being. Then he did my colonoscopy this past Monday. Now keep in mind he also did my EGD as well. When I had my colonoscopy he came in and told me he found something and he explained what he wanted to do and also let me know that my colon was coming out. He knew right then and there it was cancer . He is direct and he is fair but he is always right! He won’t lie or BS!

Very rude. Came in with gallbladder issues after getting referred to him. He told me nothing was wrong with my gallbladder, and that I got the choice to choose surgery or not. I asked him what he thought as a simple question, and told me that it’s not his problem. Told me that I will have to live with it and learn how to deal. Told me that it’s normal for girls to come in with stomach pain, making me feel as though my severe stomach issues is a normal everyday thing.

My husband had a hernia repair with mesh. Dr Birdsong explained in detail what he would be doing and politely answered all questions. My husband had little discomfort after surgery. We recommend Dr Birdsong and Bailey Hospital if you need a general surgeon.

I was referred to him by my PCP for intestinal blockage and hemorrhoids after a life flight and week long hospital stay for the former. Doc would only talk about not seeing any hernias on the scans (which I didn’t even have or referred for) and refused to address the roids at all. He was condescending and had some of the worse bedside manners of any doc I’ve experienced (and that’s a lot). I left there depressed with no hope of any improvement and I was told to live with it.If you have hernia issues, he’s probably ok. If something else, it’s a dangerous move to schedule a visit.

Dr. Birdsongs nurse put me right at ease the minute I walked into the office. Dr. Birdsong is polite and caring. He listened to all my concerns and I anticipate no issues going forward with my scheduled surgical procedure.

We went to see him regarding my husband’s gallbladder- made remarks that if we were possibly sitting around smoking pot which we do not! Very arrogant about how good he was but didn’t believe my husband had any problems. We work in construction and our boots were dirty because of heavy rains and he looked down on us and commented his housekeeping crew would be upset. So glad we didn’t go through with any surgery with him. So thankful our primary Dr listens and takes care of us. My husband has lost 40 lbs and was constantly throwing up. Made comments that he was perfectly fine and what a great surgeon he was. We wouldn’t let him touch my husband. Rude, arrogant and looked down on us - no thank you!

He is professional and knows what he is doing. He has a dry sense of humor which is right up my alley.

Dr Birdsong has always done my Colonoscopies. Very Knowledgeable and friendly to me. He is a typical surgeon. Most seem to have issues with some people. Todays society has bad things to say about everyone. Look at yourself in the mirror to see where the real problem is Getting ready for Gall Bladder surgery. I for one, do not put up with true arrogance. Don't see it here

Dr. Birdsong presented nothing like the negative reviews left by pts . After reading the reviews, I almost cancelled my appointment. I decided to judge for myself. He was kind, empathetic and listened to me. He removed my gallbladder without complication. I would highly recommend Dr. Birdsong.

Awful!! I wish I would have read some of the reviews above before our appointment. All these things are true and I hate to think how he treats the elderly. His staff is amazing but he totally fat shamed us. Blamed my son's puking for 2 months after every meal and pain on my cooking. Said all of our health issues are because we are fat. Called the doctor who referred us for gall bladder removal due to ultrasound results and idiot. Do not go to this guy...avoid him unless you want to leave in tears.

I understand why some patients thought Dr. Birdsong was rude but he really isn't. He's VERY blunt and outspoken. But if taken in the right frame of mind he really is a good person. And his skills are excellent so I would recommend him but with a warning to expect a brash individual. Any person who loves dogs can't be a bad person.

Well this doctor ordered a prescription from a mail order service for after surgery. Sent my 80 year old mother home with NO pain medication after a hernia surgery. We spent several hours trying to get her some medication to no avail. DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL!!!

He saved my life

I found him unbelievably arrogant, condescending and rude. Before he even opened my file!!! He said any problems I had were to "poor life decisions" (Because I'm overweight) My questions and concerns to him were brushed off as not important. He told my spouse that I must have "low tolerance for pain" because it shouldn't hurt that bad. There are tons of surgeons in the Tulsa Metro area. I will fall over dead before I would let him touch me again.

Dr Birdsong was professional, friendly and responsive to my questions and concerns. Most of all he was thourough. I wasnt happy with the front desk staff who were less than friendly or the nurse's aide who said she was Dr Birdsong nurse. She wore her name badge backwards so i had no idea what her role was. I will recommend this dr if the opportunity arises. When calling to schedule my follow up appt the staff were very accomodating.

Condescending, arrogant, rude, obnoxious....just a few adjectives that come to mind after my visit to Dr. Birdsong. If you have an appointment, I would cancel it now. I am glad my husband went with me, so he could witness it first hand. Non existent bedside manner, horrible experience.

Dr Birdsong is very caring and compassionate to his patients. He really does care about their wellbeing. He's extremely knowledgeable as well.

He is extremely rude and disgusting!

He took concern in what I was needing done and took care of it. I felt comfortable as can be when having a procedure done and loved him and his staff.
