He went Ghost on me.
Middle of Jan 2024 Dr Murphy preformed a heart shock on me to get my heart out of Afib. It worked about a week, but not long enough that I was back in Afib when I had my follow up after discharge. The Nurse changed my meds, had me wear a heart monitor for the month or February and the nurse did call and had me increase my meds based on the info they received from the monitor. It is now March 26th, still no word from the Doctor, his office, or nurse about my calls to the office, what info they got back about my heart from the monitor or anything about the Afib still going on.. I’m visiting in Texas until April 6th, and as soon as I get back I have a relative who worked at Duke hospital in Durham who is going to help me get in to see a Cardiologist. I have lost all faith in Novant and their Doctors in Brunswick County. I will say, if you do have to see a Cardiologist in Brunswick County NC, skip Murphy.

Dr. Murphy has been my cardiologist for 3 years, and is growing into his field. At first I thought he could have done more explanation during discussions, but has changed over time, and is more communicative. I think he is just getting better.

As a patient of Dr. Murphy I have to wait 2 months for an appointment. Unacceptable. It's my heart. The first time I saw him he put a heart monitor on me, at my request. The moment I returned to my home the phone was ringing. I was told my hear was stopping and to get to the hospital. This continued for two days and nights and I NEVER EVEN HAD A PHONE CALL FROM DR. MURPHY'S or his office staff. I went to Duke. They told me no way my heart stopped They implanted a pacemaker.

Beware! Dr Murphy prescribed several very expensive heart tests for my wife. He and his staff told us they would be covered by our insurance. We were not and we were surprised by a huge bill. These tests could have been done without charge at a different facility if we had been told about this option. After several phone calls to his billing office, they refused to accept responsibility, even though they admitted we should have been informed about the cost of the procedure and were not!
