Lack of concern
The front office staff is always welcoming with a smile and a polite greeting. My wait time in the lobby is never long. Responses in the patient portal with the staff are extremely prompt and professional. I always have Mrs. Kelly, MA to do my vitals and Mr. Buddy to speak to me during my visit, even if it is just a sincere concern for my well-being. They are absolutely amazing each and every visit! Things that could be and should be improved immediately is the bedside manner of the physician. About two years ago I got bloodwork done and a response was that my results were within normal limits. Incorrect! I was a new onset diabetic and had to bring it to their attention. My heart and lungs are never listened to by the provider. There is no check for normal bowel sounds or edema. At an urgent visit for a mental health crisis and have been asking for help for months, I was crying in the room and within a minute, he walks out of the room and goes on to his next patient.

I have seen Dr. Sexton for years. Today, I had to inform his staff that I will not be back to see him. I went for a checkup, and Dr Sexton told me he wanted to check for Covid antibodies. I declined. He then mentioned the vaccine, and I declined. He became frustrated with me, and treated me as if I were a child without the RIGHT to refuse a vaccine or testing. He then brought his personal life into the conversation to guilt me into submitting to his own agenda. Whether you agree with me or not on my stance on the vaccine, this is America. I have the right to refuse treatment and testing. He should not be treating his patients as if they do not have this right. When I said I would not be tested or receiving the vaccine, the conversation should have stopped. Instead, I was berated for my beliefs on the matter, and made to feel extremely uncomfortable.

My wife called the office with a possible emergency and the nurse hung the phone up on her. Completely unprofessional and unethical in my opinion.This isn’t the first issue we’ve had. My wife tried for months to get copies of her medical records, and when she did they were FULL of mistakes. Take your health and business elsewhere. When you have more 1 star reviews than 5 star reviews, maybe it’s time to find another profession, in my opinion.

Dr. Sexton exhibited a bad bedside manner. I felt rushed and not truly heard. This appointment was to address a mental health issue that I’m seeking help for before it becomes a crisis. He appeared incompetent when it came to a patient requesting help for a mental health issue. I basically got the equivalent of “suck it up.” He did nothing to address my problem. After talking to my wife about the doctor’s response, she advised me to ask for a psychiatric referral. I asked the nurse about getting a referral, and she gave me intake paperwork for a local psychiatrist. Dr. Sexton never came back in to discuss this further. His response to my problem was in no way therapeutic, and I would have walked out of the office with no guidance had I not specifically asked for the referral. I will definitely be finding a new primary care physician. I absolutely would NOT recommend Dr. Sexton

Wish I could leave -4 stars...been a year and still cant find whats wrong. Then when I need a form filled out for my long term insurance I've paid for 11 years they treat me like I'm less than nothing and short with me...refused to fill out and rushed me out...won't be back

Dr. Mark Sexton is this rudest doctor I have ever been to. Instead of addressing my medical concerns, he was argumentative and was more interested in trying to make me look stupid. I was dying and needed to be admitted in the hospital per the specialist that told me to go to him, he did not even ask about my well being, simply asked me why I was in his office. I had bone-eating MRSA, was extremely dehydrated, very sick and he told me to get out of his office. I had to go to another doctor to get the care that I needed. Dr. Sexton could not have cared less if I had died. He should not be allowed to practice medicine.

The most uncaring, rude, uncaring, arrogant, Uncaring dr I’ve ever dealt with in my life. He ignored my complaints for 2 yrs about increasing weakness & I ended up bedridden & wheelchair bound. I will never forgive him.

11-08-18 Angry and in severe pain when left his office. Sorry example of a caring doctor. 1st and last time. Ended up at ER after he refused to help. I want my copay back because he did not even listen to my complaints and when I had other tests in past. Severe muscle spasm in sciatic and neck and he wants to tell me that there is a difference in swelling and inflammation! To a layman in pain there is no difference in swelling or inflammation. BcBS will be called and payment disputed

We paid $18,000 in health insurance premiums last year. We deserve to be treated with a little respect when visiting the Doctor. Dr. Sexton was arrogant and insensitive. One would think they were wasting his time. He ordered a CT scan and said he would call me with the results. He never called. He asked me if I had ever had a colonoscopy and he has ordered 2 in the past. He asked me why I was going to another Doc that he referred me there. It was very obvious to me he had not reviewed my chart

Did not call back about results. Didn’t care, or even pretend to care about my illness. Can’t ever get back from the office nor do they answer when you call. Would not recommend to ANYONE. Stay away.

Absolutely! Never have to wait long maybe 10 mins. Jesse, Dr. Sexton's PA is who sees me. She is very thorough. Being an RN, I have an idea of what "thorough" is....In good hands there! They listen to you, do not rush you and remember you from visit to visit. Also close to my home which never hurts! Very nice facility. Staff helpful and friendly always. Kellie Wright

I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. I was very sick and ended up seeking cancer treatment a few days after my appointment. My labs were not reviewed correctly and were not addressed with me in a timely manner. It was only due to my own research with the lab that processed my blood that I found out I needed to see my oncologist immediately. The only thing he did in the appointment was listen to my heart and lungs, then walked out of the room.

I indicated one star only because it will not allow for me to leave no star. Do not trust this doctor. Incorrectly read lab results and could have lead to a devastating outcome. His office never even called with the results... results were given after patient called to notify his office of current cancer treatment ... something that he shoud have caught.

He has to be , by far, the worse doctor in Columbus Georgia. Lack of bedside manner, rude, abrupt, ask what is wrong, what do you need, pompous. I would not recommend by worst enemy to him nor would I let him treat my dog....... Having lived in several states and seem many different doctors over the years out of all of them he would be at the bottom of the list....

I signed on as a Dr Lewis Patient but never got to see him they always sent me to mark sexton whom i found very offensive and rude, he will try to belittle you and he is very arrogant! I will never go back to Family Physicians of Columbus again and I suggest people request only Dr Lewis or stay home because the management has to respond to the many complaints of mark sexton! DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS medicalboard.georgia.gov File your complaint online and clean up the bad doctor problems !
