Unresponsive and Unprofessional
I was given a referral to Dr Sheafor's office for custom orthotics due to foot and ankle pain. First and foremost, his office never answers their phone. The one time I was able to get ahold of someone, she said she'd look for my referral and talk to Dr Sheafor before calling me back. I never heard from them again. After doing some digging, it looks like they probably wanted to work their way out of helping me since I have CHPW. I ended up getting a referral to a much better clinic in Stanwood that scheduled me right away. If you have a lower-end insurance, don't waste your time with these people.

Refused to submit bill to Medicare /Insurance
Dr. Sheafor assisted my mother in an assisted living facility with a foot infection. He refused to submit the bill to Medicare and her insurance saying it should be something Hospice would pay for. Hospice only pays for things related to her reason for being on Hospice which I explained to his office. Hospice/PeaceHealth offered to try and explain it to him as well. They still refused saying in their experience Medicare wouldn't pay. I shared that Medicare has been paying for non-Hospice related medical treatment for ear problems and other issues. They still refused meaning we had to pay his bill personally. I am disappointed that Sheafor is not even willing to try and have never heard of a doctor refusing to submit bills for insurance or Medicare. We won't use him again.

After a month I could not make an appointment.
I have not seen Dr. Sheafor. I tried to make an appointment weeks ago, and was told I had to have records from a previous podiatrist sent. That was done. I waited for a call to make an appointment. Nothing happened. I called again. This time, I was told the nurse would have to look over my records. Again, no appointment. Finally, today, I was told that Dr. Sehafor thought I should stay with my previous podiatrist who, sad to say, is no longer taking care of ingrown toenails. This is not a good place to try to have foot care.

My brief experience with Sheafor's office was today. I had been referred for a fungal issue (gross, I know). His office person, whom I have found out is also his wife, asked what my insurance was. When I told her that I had CHPW, state funded insurance, I was put on a lengthy hold. When the woman finally came back, she told me that Sheafor could not see me as "my medical issue was too complecated for him to take on". Toe fungus is medically too complicated for a podiatrist?? Plus, how do you assess that without seeing someone first? I feel pretty confident that my state insurance was what he didn't want to "take on"!! Look elsewhere for a podiatrist, this guy doesn't deserve the business!!

. I have had excellent credit rating (top 700 and lower 800s) for 5 years during which I saw Dr. Sheafor once...possibly twice for a follow up on a toe fungus problem. His present secretary told me I did not pay him for the visit(s) I was fully insured with Medicare at the time plus had supplement insurance via husband retiree program. I have never received bill from him or collection . . I showed my credit rating for that time to his secretary last month and she said she would tell him and find out how much he felt I owed However I have not heard from him or her since.

I saw Dr. Mark Shaefor several years ago to help with arch pain I was having. He was a very kind and informative gentleman who was a pleasure to work with. He suggested custom orthotics that were about $400, but came with a lifetime replacement/recovering clause. They were the best orthotics I have ever had. The first couple times I had them recovered it was no problem. Then it seemed there was a breakdown in communication between the office staff and Mark. They stopped returning my calls. There was turn over in office staff, but same problem. Thinking maybe the company who made the moulds was no longer offering free service, I offered to pay whatever it took to get them made. The office staff would tell me they would call back and never would. I'm out of space here to explain it all, but I had to go elsewhere never knowing what the problem was. Even Dr. David Cutler (excellent!) said he has heard same thing. Still cannot get my orig moulds. Its a shame. DO NOT GO HERE

I saw Dr Sheafor this morning. First visit. He was thorough in explaining the issue and course of treatment. Good bedside manner. 10s across the board for Dr Sheafor and my visit. Friendly receptionist also One suggestion would be to send out the forms/questionnaire by mail to new patients and save 25 mins. doing it at the office.

It was a pleasure to work with Dr Sheafor from initial visit to the final outcome. The receptionist greeted me always with welcoming kindness and acceptance, which help me feel secure that I chose the right place. The Nursing staff and Dr Sheafor could not have been better. Every thing was explained to me Prior to my surgery, in detail and was accurately performed. The infection control emphasis used was reassuring that all was well. Dr Sheafor and staff thank you for your pain free personal care and treatments.

Dr. Sheafor and his wife/surgery center RN/office manager Jen have shown very clearly they prioritize money over the health and well being of their patients. It seems they have found loop holes in the health system to outright refuse treatment and even consultations for patients that don't have top-tier insurance. Dr. Sheafor has privileges to perform surgery at Peacehealth St. Josephs but only does surgery in his own office so he can double bill patients both as a doctor and as a surgery suite. I am not sure if he does this because of a poor relationship with the hospital, or just because he sees an opportunity to extort his patients with top tier insurance. The latter seems more likely, after seeing Dr. Sheafor's refusal to perform necessary surgery on patients with medicare or the like. If you or a family member need foot care, I strongly recommend you go to an orthopedic doctor, your primary care doctor, or a different podiatrist, even if you have to travel out of town.

I am always happy with my treatment as Dr. Sheafor fixes my problems, explains thoroughly and takes the time to make sure I understand my treatment. His office staff is very unorganized and I have never made an appointment in a normal amount of time. It usually requires me calling back multiple times just to get an appointment. I bet business would improve with better support.

I had a surgery scheduled with Dr. Sheafor. Drove all the way into Bellingham to his clinic and was told that him and his nurse were both out sick. When I tried to reschedule I kept getting the excuse that I needed to find a different Dr. Well come to find out the reason he cancelled the surgery was because my insurance (Apple Community Health) would not pay for part of is surgery!! Then today I tried to get another set of or orthotics and was told to follow up with my PCP for what?
