Dr. Mark Simms, MD

Do not get your child assessed at the Child Development Center as long as Dr. Simms is director. If your child doesn't outwardly appear as autistic, don't go here. I trusted Dr. Simms and his team to see autism in my 3-yr-old son. I knew nothing about ASD at the time. My son lined up toys and couldn't transition to other tasks. Dr. Simms diagnosed my son as developmentally delayed because my son was 'too social.' Two yrs later, I had my son assessed at Caravel Autism and he was diagnosed. He was 6. Luckily, he was within the age range to get Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy. We had a positive experience at InBloom. Because my son was diagnosed after K5, he had to split time between school and therapy. Currently, my son is behind in school. We enrolled him in extra reading lessons. That is a $20,000 expense. Had Dr. Simms diagnosed my kid at 3, my son would've been done with therapy before K5. I dislike Dr. Simms immensely.

We took my son to see Dr. Simms when he was three and displaying many autism characteristics and had significant emotional, language and development delays. We trusted the Children's Hospital name backing him up. We got no diagnosis for my son from Dr. Simms and now two years later, my son has been diagnosed with autism from another provider and we are having trouble getting him into therapy due to his age. Don't take your child to him if you are concerned about a possibly of autism.

He only diagnoses ADHD, so you are doing a disservice to your child by taking them here, he just gives kids unnecessary medications

If I could give Dr. Simms and the Child Development Center zero stars, I would. DO NOT take your child here if you are concerned he/she is on the autism spectrum. They will not diagnose autism before age of 6 (or at all). They diagnosed my child with a made up language disorder, when in reality she has autism. We wasted months on a waiting list to see these folks and they completely dismissed our concerns about autism. Same thing happened to others, as we found afterwards talking w/parents.
