I have been seeing Dr. Tannenbaum for 21 years. He has always been very generous with his time and taken care to discuss everything during my visits. I was always very concerned about my health and acted like I was his most important patient.

Dr. Tannenbaum is an excellent listener and able to draw together a clear plan of intervention and action from a myriad of symptoms and inputs. He does so in a caring supportive manner while being direct and to the point.

Dr. Tannenbaum always makes me feel heard and cared for.

Dr Tanenbaum comes to my appointment aware of my medical history and purpose of this appointment. He takes his time reviewing my numbers and suggests a course of action. But what I appreciate the most about Dr Tanenbaum is that he writes everything done and gives me a copy so there’s no chance for confusion or forgetfulness or misinterpretation.

Dr Tanenbaum has been looking out for my cardiac health for over ten years. Always on time, always pleasant, never scares me with doom and gloom warnings, and I feel like he's treating me, the patient, instead of the data that describe me, which I appreciate. He takes my concerns seriously. The practice is easy to work with as well, from reception to billing. Do be prepared for a long wait time to see a doctor. I usually schedule visits six months in advance. When I had an urgent need arise I was able to get in with an NP or PA within a week, but it would have been months to see Dr. Tanenbaum. The NP/PA staff that I've seen were completely competent and gave me great care, too.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Tanenbaum. I have a cardiac birth defect which has been monitored every few years all my life. At age 45 I got my regular echo and went to see Dr. Tanenbaum for a standard consult. He told me that I had an enlarged right ventricle and would likely need valve surgery. This result was unexpected and upsetting. However, the echo report, which I later received, did not indicate an enlarged right ventricle. I had a follow-up stress-echo and cardiac MRI. Both confirmed regular right ventricle function. Additionally, Virginia Heart has not canceled another follow-up visit despite two requests to cancel the appointment.
