Terrible doctor! He operated and completely botched up a relatively easy hernia surgery causing a lifetime of pain. Had to have the whole surgery redone and had complete abdominal reconstruction by another northwestern doctor. Toyama was inattentive, completely lacked concern, had terrible bedside manner; he had zero follow up, had no PA or nurse who calls after surgery; ended up in emergency room several times. Look for other doctors before you choose this one.

I waited until six months after my surgery to write this review just to make sure it was as successful as I thought. I had a double inguinal hernia repair with mesh done by Dr Toyama and am still in a little bit of awe about how smoothly everything went. Never had to take a pain pill, had very little discomfort even the night of the surgery and was back to full activities six weeks out. Also his office assistant Connie is a gem of a human being and you can tell she really cares.
