Get a second opinion
Unfortunately I am writing on behalf of my partner. He died last month due to complications from his extensive small lung CA. We wanted to trust Dr. Palmer, but couldn't when a second, non related colon cancer was eventually diagnosed despite it showing on initial scans. It wasn't until it became an emergency that it was addressed. He also was told his brain MRI showed a previous stroke, but no second brain MRI was done despite repeatedly asking. After emergency colon surgery, Palmer wanted to start treatment for the colon cancer. I wanted a second opinion. Palmer said we didn't need one. So we got one through SCCA. We found he didn't need tx for his colon, and he should have been getting full scans, including another brain scan. We changed providers and my partner learned the cancer was in his brain. Don't let a Dr ever tell you that a second opinion is not needed. That should be a major red flag. I recommend SCCA. My partner got real info, real tx and longer life.

My name is Shannon Knight (Hello Dr. Palmer) Dr. Palmer was my oncologist when he was in Westlake Village CA. I was stage 4 with ER PR Positive breast cancer. I have been cancer free since 2011. I chose to go to CMN hospital in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora Mexico instead of doing chemotherapy. He was respectful of my choice and did not encourage me to go there and even teased me and called my decision "the sunshine farm". Dr. Palmer never got chemo in me but the radiation oncologist he recommended me to was a nightmare in Thousand Oaks. Dr, Paul Miller! Yikes! You can see pictures of that doctors masterpiece of a burn on my chest. I quit after 22 sessions with 40 planned. I got so sick with infection in my lungs I was referred to Dr. Dutta an infectious disease doctor in Thousand Oaks CA. I was on IV antibiotics. By then I was too sick to do chemo and I made the RIGHT choice to leave my country and go to CMN instead of waiting around to die. www.shannonknight.com

he might be very knowledgeable but no very good at explaining to patient. Walking through the steps and your treatment plan at the first place. Do much of your own homework before go to him, otherwise, Do NOT go to him if you don't ask questions yourself.

Do not see Dr. Palmer. I found him to be indifferent and even uncaring. His counsel was found to be unwise. Thankfully I left him. A decision that saved my life.

Dr. Palmer was my oncologist when he was in southern California. Being his patient made the cancer journey far less terrifying, as he is very reassuring and so very knowledgeable. I actually looked forward to my regular checkups with Dr. Palmer. I am now past 5 years cancer free and so very grateful to Dr. Palmer for helping me to get through the most difficult parts, with his compassion and honesty and humor. I would recommend Dr. Palmer to anyone facing that battle.
