Wonderful surgeon, expert educator and very kind, lovely clinician. She put me at ease during a difficult time and I can’t thank her enough for my excellent outcome.

Best Doctor EVER
I have been a patient of Dr. Gemmignani for 18 years. One of the smartest doctors practicing today - overall, not just in her field. She is thoughtful, thorough and always learning and stays on the cutting edge of breast cancer research.

How lucky am I to have stumbled upon Dr. Gemignani post diagnosis? Not only is she incredibly intelligent, kind, decisive ( I could go on and on with adjectives). She is also a surgical wizard. I had to have a fairly large section of my breast removed during my lumpectomy and if you hadn't seen my breasts beforehand, you wouldn't know there was anything wrong ( outside the incision....which is actually a beautiful incision). Also her team is equally as kind and hardworking.

Fantastic surgeon
Dr. Gemignani did my surgery, and she was wonderful. In my consult she was very empathetic as she delivered two rounds of bad news. But I was prepared for both opinions. She also ordered more tests and caught more cancer that was missed by the radiology place that did my initial tests. One thing that really endeared me to Dr. G is that I had a plastic surgeon I had at MSK I had set up a consultation with, but my care coordinator told me I couldn't have her because she and Dr. G had different surgery days. I thought I had canceled that consult, but Dr. G saw it on my calendar. I felt a little sheepish for overlooking that to-do item, but she told me she and the surgeon I wanted would just work it out. It was a kindness she didn't owe me, but it speaks to just what kind of person she is. Like another reviewer, some of the reviews here gave me pause before I set up a consultation with Dr. G, but I have no regrets. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Dr. Gemignani is not the doctor you'd want to manage your breast oncology. She is very impersonal. Does not take the time to explain the diagnosis and does not provide any direction that will be helpful in decision making. My time with her was very short and she didn't offer any information. Just allowed me to ask questions. This was the first cancer diagnosis that I ever had (never even been in the hospital before), and I had no information whatsoever to even begin to ask questions. To say the least, I would NOT recommend her to anyone. She was rude to my family member who attended the consultations with me, completely cut her off while she was asking questions, rolled her eyes, and was very dismissive. Her eyes were bloodshot and it looked like she Hadn't slept in days. Her distain at being in the meeting was palpable. If you want a caring, knowledgeable surgical oncologist, go somewhere else. Dr. Heerdt is BY FAR a better choice to lead your treatment than Ms. Gemignani.

Years will tell if she got all the cancer out. It has only been a few years since my mastectomy. So far so good. If you go for surgery with her ask her about an aesthetically pleasing scar. Imagine no pictures are available to show patients how they will look after surgery??!!!! Plenty of pictures offered by brave women online. Can you imagine no medical textbooks with pictures??!!! (that I want to show you). She said my breast was too big that is why the scar is lumpy. Maybe she is better with thin small people? She said I could see a plastic surgeon before radiation if I wanted it to look different. The invasiveness of the trauma ( cancer treatment) for me was too much for me to do it at that time. I hope this helps someone else. I am finally speaking out about it.

Dr. Gemignami is one of the finest breast surgeons I have ever met. I have experience in this as my mother had breast cancer, When I was diagnosed with breast cancer- I met Dr. Gemignami and she was extremely professional, explained all my options and eventually gently guided me to the correct decision which was a double mastectomy, She is a very skilled surgeon. Anyone who takes a negative review of one person is ignorant, I have never seen her roll her eyes -ever, 1 bad review spanning a 27-year career tells you something,-

I came to Dr. Gemignani for a second opinion on a breast cancer diagnosis. I had not made any decisions on who will be treating me and I wanted reassurance that I would be in good hands. Dr. Gemignani is one of the most impersonal and unprofessional doctor's I have ever met. Her bedside manners are atrocious. I had to deal with dismissiveness, eye rolling, sighing, and very little discussion about how she plans to treat my cancer. She only gave me 15 minutes of her time. What an awful experience

i almost passed on using Dr. Gemignani as my surgeon based on a bad review i read. What a mistake that would have been! She is caring, accomplished and an excellent surgeon! She recently performed a double mastectomy on me and I could not be happier with the results or the level of care I received. If you are lucky enough to be able to use her as your surgeon (albeit unlucky enough to need her considerable skills), run, don't walk to use her!

Dr. Gemignani literally saved my life. She is an exceptionally skilled surgeon and really took the time to listen and answer all of my, and my husband’s, questions. She gave us several surgical options and really made us feel like we were a part of the treatment decision making team. She was nurturing and compassionate during the most difficult time of my life. She was able to get all of my cancer out while preserving my skin. I truly feel blessed that she was my surgeon. I highly recommend her.
