It is now 20 years later and I so appreciate and love Dr. Mary Lou Hlavin. She remove my meningioma brain tumor in 2003. I had a craniotomy. She talked to me about the procedure and made me feel so confident. I can't even describe how great she is, she saved my life and my sight. Thank you so much, your the best!

Dr. Hlavin Surgery on my 4 month old son
In 1994, Dr.Hlavin operated on my 4 month old baby boy. He had great pressure on his brain from subdurral hygromas. If left untreated, he would have been left disabled or even dead. The good doctor inserted a shunt to relieve the fluid and subsequent pressure. Today, that baby is a normal functioning 28 year old. May God Bless You Dr. Hlalin.

Dr. Having, preformed a lumbar spine and cervical spine surgery. I would give her five stars any day. I live in Montana now and have to have another surgery for spinal stenosis. How I wish Dr. Hlavin, were closer!!

Was not impressed with this doctor at all. Too quick to dismiss symptoms & must have a very big ego if does not want to consult with prior neurosurgeon that performed ACDF. My prior neurosurgeon would have been able to attest to the fact that not everything shows up on an MRI with me and he's already been in there and operated on my neck.

She scheduled 2 mris 5 yrs ago and id seen her a few more times, latest being just over 1 yr ago. Injured my neck recently and my pcp referred me back to her. After no reply I called her receptionist and my Dr back to find out when i could get in. I was told that Mary Hlavin denied my referral. Reason-she was not excepting NEW patients and SHE SAID I HAD NEVER BEEN A PATIENT OF HERS IN THE PAST.

Dr. Hlavin was very open and friendly. Did an excellent job of verifying my symptoms, explaining what my options were and the corresponding success rates we could expect from them. She also advised me of the things I needed to do to lessen the symptoms I was having. She advised against immediate surgery and suggested a course of action that included medication, exercise and diet. I found Dr. Hlavin very thorough, reassuring and direct, but not at all offensive.
