My son had to have an emergency surgery. First, she was in the hospital quite awhile before performing said surgery. Then she performed a surgery that is ALWAYS done laparoscopically with an open incision instead, and had an excuse about why she felt this was necessary. Then she discharged us without antibiotics. I was given discharge paperwork with red flags to look out for. After my son started showing these signs, I called the hospital who called this surgeon. When they called me back, they said she said she absolutely would not give him antibiotics, and to administer OTC fever reducers. After another couple days with his condition worsening, and me calling the hospital/ surgeon multiple times, I finally took him to his PCP who immediately determined he had an infection and had us life flighted to a children's hospital in another state. At this facility we saw many surgeons, all of which were so confused why he had an open incision, and how he came to have such a bad infection.

Dr, MacGuire goes the extra mile for her patients. I truly felt like she was an advocate for me and always gave me a straight answer.
