Dr. Mary Nowlin, DO

Extremely judgmental. Didn’t feel she was there to really help. Didn’t feel listened to or heard. Winks 200% not recommended.

A friend of mine has a few mental illnesses and his prescriptions were making him sick. Instead of changing them, she prescribed Zoloft AND adderall which made him overdose on serotonin. What did she do? She tried to UP the dosage. She needs her medical license stripped and her fired.

Dr. Nowlin listens to us as parents. She saved my child from the wrong meds that he was overly medicated on from a different provider in the behavioral health system. She found the right diagnosis and meds for him to be successful. We moved our other son over to her as well and he has been more successful. She understands the impact of foster care and adoption, and she respects us. Not thrilled to be charged a missed appointment fee when we had a different date in our calendar than the front desk. Always get it in writing.

Mary never listened to how I felt or what I needed. She misinformed me about the medication I was on and did not listen to how I felt in any way. When I told her I still had issues with mania she didn't even care, she didn't even attempt to put me on a medication. All she did was continue pushing I only take anti depressants. Hope I never have to visit her again.

This person is unhelpful and very harmful. She is not understanding and seems to not be able to listen to what the client is actually telling her. Because her prescriptions are sent electronically, you are not really sure what she is doing, more than once she has changed dosing, amounts or the entire med on me and not informed me. I found out from the pharmacy what happened. When I questioned her about it- 'oh yeah- i meant to tell you, or 'i thought this was best' were her answers.

I don't like to leave negative comments, but I wouldn't recommend this doctor and her office staff person is not sensitive to issues. You will be treated like a number at this place. The doctor often runs late, and I've had to wait over an hour to be seen two times, yet her staff person was completely heartless when I had an emergency and couldn't make the appointment and was charged $60.00 without hesitation. If you want inefficiency and heartlessness, you will find it at this location.

I have been seeing Dr. Nowlin for over 5 years. I think overall she is fair and helpful. She has been consistent in overseeing my medication and offering good suggestions when appropriate. I would recommend her to others. Her last office was more comfortable and the previous office staff were much more courteous and caring. The only exception is the medication nurse in this office. She is always very intelligent, prompt and helpful and makes sure patient needs are met.
