ER visit
Sunday morning was at first fortunately not a busy time at St. Luke's. Everyone that we met was able to give their full attention in due time. All RNs were excellent but my wife and I were extraordinarily impressed with Dr. Matt Bivens. He was direct, he took time to explain his critical thinking and he remained remarkably focused despite a sudden rush of codes in the ER to which his attention was rightfully needed. I had been searching everywhere for some answers to a problem which had been nagging me for eighteen months but had turned so severe (for me) that I was forced to the ER. Six stars if possible. Thank you.

Highly satisfactory
Dr. Bivens treated me in the ER following a serious nose bleed. I arrived in a Dartmouth EMT ambulance. He quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered appropriate tests that were performed as quickly as possible in a busy ER at St. Lukes. He read the results, explained them to me, made recommendations for follow-up care, and discharged me. It all took about 2 hours, remarkable for an ER on a Saturday night.

Awful
I was referred to the ER by my PCP for abnormal labs and weight loss due to an eating disorder. He asked me 3 questions and spent less than a minute with me. He did not bother to do othro vitals on FAINTING patient. He did not call my pcp even though I asked several times. My heartrate went from 76 to 122 from laying to sitting but was deemed safe. Okay.

The worst experience I have ever had with a supposably medical professional. Wife went to the ER directly from an urgent care center via ambulance due to an allergic reaction she had from an antibiotic previously prescribed to her by said urgent care for a dog bite. All in less than a minute he showed up, took his little penlight out, quickly looked at her arms and legs which where covered in hives and said “scabies”. I asked him how that could be and as I started to explain the situation, which he could have looked up mind you, he quickly put his hand to my face and rudely said “I’ll get you paperwork on it” he then walked away and never came back the entire visit. She was prescribed Benadryl which helped and never took the topical she was prescribed for scabies. Unsurprisingly the itching and hives went away. We suspect my wife was judged because of her tattoos and piercings but can’t be certain. At best he’s the rudest Dr. I’ve ever dealt with, at worst he’s incompetent & dangerous
