Dr. Matthew Bowen, MD

I waited 1hr and 40 minutes for my appointment. He gave me five minutes of his time and irritated that I was there.

He was over an our late to my appointment, distracted while talking to us, and dismissive to our questions. Waste of time and money. Will definitely seek a different ENT provider.

Dr. Bowen is very compassionate and knowledgeable. I had been left in horrible pain for 10 days from a previous other doctor who incorrectly performed a needle biopsy on my ping pong ball sized thyroid growth. Dr. Bowen said my neck would be sore the day of the procedure but I would be back to normal the next day..and I was. If you need a thyroid needle biopsy go to Dr. Bowen because he is a specialist in this field.

Dr. Bowen is very thorough & cares about me as a person.Does not rush me & makes sure all of my concerns/questions are answered.

As a new patient required paperwork took about 12 minutes then within 3 minutes I was called back for testing. After test Doctor explained results thoroughly. I recommend. I was satisfied at the conclusion of the appointment.

He reassured me about my concern and discovered something I was not aware of. When he ordered an antibiotic he fully explained any possible side effects.

I have been seeing him for awhile and after last visit won't go back. He was very rude saying I was trying to find something wrong. How is that when I'm trying to get help and can't hear due to a severe ear infection. I found a nice understanding ENT doctor in grand rapids.

Dr. Bowen knows his stuff did not mince words. Was very in charge. Not a real friendly funny or compassionate type, but if you are ok with frank “this is it, this is how I will treat it” kind of care i think he is good at what he does. I personally like a kinder type of Dr. but if you don’t mind the because I said so kind of Dr. i think you’re in good hands.

Very good bedside manner. Has a professional attitude, knowledgeable and yet still has a sense of humor. I believed he literally saved my husbands life. Simple 20 minute surgery turned into a 9 hour surgery...found cancer...removed cancer. Trust this man 100%.

Dr. Bowen could not figure out my issue and insinuated that I was crazy after I became emotional after being talked to like I was making up the issue I’ve been experiencing. Before I saw Dr. Bowen, I had went to urgent care because I thought I might have an ear infection. I was told I have fluid in my ears and may have a eustacian tube issue. I don’t just go to the doctor for fun. He asked me, “do you have some kind of mood disorder?” after I began crying. When a patient cries in your office, you don’t tell them they need medication for anxiety and depression, you listen to them and try to be empathic before you diagnose an issue you know nothing about. He’s cannot make those kind of judgements based on our conversation. So should everyone who cries be medicated because emotions make you that uncomfortable? I have never felt so disrespected with a doctor before and I definitely would not recommend Dr. Bowen. I’ll never go back. The rest of the staff were great and very nice.

Has been very helpful with my chronic nosebleed disorder. I ended up in the Emergency room and he called and came in to do emergency surgery. I appreciate all that he has done for me

Came in with a severe sinus infection. Had pressure on my ears and they were plugged. Refused to clean the wax in my ears. only wanted to sell me a hearing aid.

Dr. Bowen has always listened to me and worked hard to find the best solutions for my specific concerns. He clearly explains my options and has developed a plan to successfully treat my chronic condition.

Dr. Bowen heard my concerns, did testing that I had never done before, and he resolved an issue my primary care claimed didn’t exist. He is very knowledgeable, he is kind, and most of these other reviews are anger at the office for lateness in surgery and other things where stuff happens. As a Doctor Dr. Bowen is a wonderful doctor.

I was a new patient experiencing extended vocal fatigue from last summer. I saw Dr. Bowen and he immediately referred me to the SLP and singing specialist. I wish I had been able to be referred right away, as I’m paying out of pocket. Would’ve saved me some cash.

Dr. Bowen was thorough and knowledgeable. He listens well. He also can be firm when needed. I appreciate that. I would recommend him without reservation.
