I went to the office because I kept seeing double. After three visits the doctor told me my issue was that I was cross-eyed, a condition that was never discovered even after wearing glasses for over 50 years. I was given what I thought was a prescription, and suggested that Costco would be a fine place to get new glasses. Turns out that I was never given the actual prescription, only a note regarding the level of prism. The problem is that Costco will only grind the glasses with both a prescription and the note about the prisms, and they must be from the same office. I was just told that Dr. Kay's office does not do refractions, so now all that time and expense was for nothing. Actually, not nothing, because this is a pricey office.

Made a difference in my life
I had seen other doctors before who had no idea how to help me. Dr. Kay knew exactly what was wrong and what to do about it. He made a very positive difference in my vision and in my life.

Voodoo doctor
I saw Dr Kay at the VA at Bay Pines. He made a diagnosis probably more for the benefit of the resident doctor than for me. They discussed in their doctor language the lab rat that was there and forgot that I was there in more than just body. He did address my mind in that he said I should just live with it. Unbelievable he thinks he can treat people that way. I am going to live with it but I won’t ever accept that doing nothing is medical care.

I wish I could say something about the doctor himself but the truth is we never got to see him. His office staff is HORRIFIC. After witnessing one girl being rude to her coworker on the phone, another shaking her head at a gentleman that wanted to be seen and had been denied asking “is he really going to ask again?” and as I approached them one of the girls held up her finger to me to stop me from saying anything. All I know is I will never return to this office and I will never refer this doctor to anyone I care about. They not only denied seeing us due to some paperwork bogus issue that should have been handled by their office 2 months prior after waiting for three months for an appointment and driving two hours to their Ft. Lauderdale office they acted like this was an everyday occurrence. No sympathy, no solutions. I hope their dad or grandpa never have to get referred to an office like theirs after suffering a stroke! Just plain disgusting.

Waited for 45 Minutes past a 9:30 appointment. Staff never said they were running late. When we asked they said he was running late. Waited another 15 minutes to not be called back. Staff was rude. We left without being seen. We asked for his manager who was not on site. She was not available at either number given for her. Messages were left. Five years ago we had an equally dismal appointment with dr Kay. Nothing has changed. Piss poor patient care. If you can get any cate.

I was referred to Dr. Kay for a serious medical condition that have affected my vision. Dr. Kay took his time explaining my situation effectively and in a very comforting and personable way. Dr. Kay referred me to a top notch brain surgeon on the spot as I was sitting in his office. He expedited my surgery realizing right away the severity of my condition. I can't thank him enough for his professional and reassuring way.

Waited over an hour after my appointment before he saw me. For the first 10 minutes he discussed personal issues with an intern, then checked me and didn't give me any indication of what could be the problem, only referred me to an ENT after I told him I had already been to an ENT. He said the blood work wasn't available that he needed and come back in 2 weeks. Really strange. A total waste of my time after spending a full day getting blood work his office requested and a MRI per his request.

I spent a good half of the day at the office and after extensive testing, Dr. Kay was able to give me an answer to my concerns. He explained everything so clearly and spoke to me like he actually cared about me and my condition. I would never wish for anyone to be diagnosed with Optic Neuritis - but if they are, I would recommend seeing Dr. Kay! He and his staff are helpful, compassionate and even can make you laugh in a terrifying situation. A million thank yous!
