Dr. Matthew Ragsdell, DO

I developed a staph infection after an Achilles tendon surgery with another doctor. At the first appointment Dr. Ragsdell advised me of all of my treatment options including sending me to a different doctor at a larger hospital. Dr. Ragsdell operated and cleaned out the infection from the other doctor’s surgery. He was very aggressive in caring for me to prevent further infections and problems. He took the time to answer every question I asked and I could not be happier with Dr. Ragsdell’s care. He is a great doctor and I will always be thankful for his great care and treatment.

He operated on my grandmother for a broken leg. He did not show up to the hospital to visit her after the surgery or to discharge her in a timely manner forcing her to spend extra time in the hospital. We had to get a different surgeon to provide her post-surgery care. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

Dr. Ragsdell replaced my hip. When I stood up after surgery I was brought to tears to discover the operated side was now 1 1/2" longer. I was lead to believe recovery would be quick and I should expect to walk almost immediately. Instead severe pain prevented me from walking for over 4 weeks. Now I'm left to deal with a severe limp for at least a year when it should be safer to access if another surgery can possibly give me back a more normal gait back. Meanwhile Dr. Ragsdell has shown little compassion or empathy for the bad outcome.

After a fall from my bike, Dr. Ragsdale saw me right away. As great an experience as something like this can be. All healed now and good to go. I highly recommend!

Dr. Ragsdell performed my total reverse shoulder replacement. I spent 3 days in Oak Hill Hospital and was surprised at how little discomfort I had almost immediately. I was discharged with an Rx for pain pills but never even had to open the bottle. I had excellent range of motion very quickly; both the in home rehab nurse and outpatient rehab therapist were surprised at how well my range of motion was (be sure to do your rehab). Dr. Ragsdell does not hesitate to answer any questions.

I have now had shoulder repair surgery and a total knee replacement since I did my last review. Both surgeries were totally successful and I have recommended him to many people that have also had varies surgeries by Dr. Ragsdell. I have had many of them come to thank me for the referral. All have excellent results that they share with me. I can't tell you how fortunate we are to have this doctor available in Citrus County.
